Moving to corralejo

I am going to be moving to corralejo with my family we have 2 children ages 4&1 so will need to look at schools my 4 year old can speak a few words and can count. Can anyone help with schools? Also my background is retail and childcare is it likely that I can continue childcare? I was thinking about setting up a playgroup and before and after school club. But open to ideas if anyone can suggest anything that the area needs. I know that there isn't any English schools so do you think that there could be a need for this service in the area.

The majority of the English families with young children all went back to the UK around three years ago, at least on Tamaragua they did. Don't think you stand much of a
chance with that type of business/work. I stand to be corrected. But wish you well in any enterprise you decide upon.

The two agents below are your best legal bet, you will probably have looked at them anyway. Otherwise if you intend to holiday or visit in the near future, go up to Shooters bar on a Sunday Afternoon or Tuesday night and ask around, you could strike lucky.

Before you can move here you need to ensure:
1) You can prove to the authorities you can support yourself and your dependents. I.e proof of a private income or a contract of employment
2) You can show you have substantial healthcare arrangements for you and your children, either supported by documentation from the British government or with a recognised private insurer

You don't need (2) if you're contributing, Spike, i.e. if you have a job or are self-employed.

How's your Spanish? You might get enough interest for an English after-school group if you attract non-English speaking kids, but you'll need to be able to communicate with parents.

You are legally employed (see (1) above)
You are legally self employed which may mean a substantial up front monthly payment (is it still 300 Euros?)

I didn't have to prove any of that. In fact I didn't have to prove anything at all. I'm self employed here and the old bill seemed to like that just fine. Went with our lawyer and got residencia straight away. No problem.

How much tax a month does a self employed person (nomina) have to pay now Jock. Is it a fixed sum, it was 300 Euros.  I did see somewhere that the government were offering reductions to promote employment.

Costs me EUR 285 a month, but it isn't a tax - it's a social security contribution. For that I (and my dependants) get access to the Spanish health care system and I'll even get a few cents of pension one day . Tax is on top and is around 20% of everything I earn , less expenses. Yes, there are reductions for the first few years now, which unfortunately came in too late for me.

Jock: you or your lawyer did have to prove that you were self-employed and had a reasonable chance of staying that way i.e. continuing to contribute for the foreseeable future.
