General Question about living on the Island

Hello folks,
I was wondering, lets say you have no special job qualification (other then speaking 6 languages), how hard/easy would it be on fuerte to find a job that pays 200-300â,¬ a month?
I know unemployment is very high and it all depends what your looking for, but generally speaking if youre willing to do anything would it be possible to make a couple â,¬ at any time?

Work is hard to find but your languages are a great asset. Persevere and you'll find something - no guarantees though.

Over the next few months there's going to be a 28% increase in air travel to the island. There is also going to be oil exploration off the coast of Fuerteventura. All these things lead me to believe that the local economy may improve somewhat. As a result, more jobs may be available. There is no guarantee however, but things are looking up.

Hit the nail on the head  Multi National Hotel companies have the place sewn up.

I agree the economy is looking up, and even some AI tourists occasionally venture out. Certainly restaurants seem busier.
AI travellers generally come on charter flights, and a lot of the new flights are low cost operators. 
The shops are much busier, and people seem to be buying more luxury items, like paintings and expensive furniture, rather than just essentials, which has to be a good sign.

I remember standing at the top of Monte Castillo pre 2008 and not being able to see the pathway down to Caleta for the amount of heads/sunburn/sweaty hairy backs.

Until that day comes again unfortunately Fuerteventura will not be back to "where it should be".

Your languages will get you a job as a PR standing outside a bar/restaurant. Whether you'd keep it long depends more on your personality than your languages. And if you need the job to get you state health cover then you'll need it to come with a proper employment contract - not sure that many of them do.

Can you come out without burning any bridges? If it's just you that will have to cope if it goes pear-shaped, that's one thing; if there are dependents involved, that's another.

with all them language's you won't have a problem, think of car hire co's, holiday rep, hotel p.r.o. and info rep, coach tour rep,i take it spanish is one of them, it's wide open for you.

Hi Sonny, read this link and see if you meet the current Residency rules first before going over to the Island to live. If you can prove that you have enough money to support yourself and also have health care ,your language skills should be a great asset to you when looking for casual work.  The best of luck. .

thx fif, I got somewhat of an impression now, altho a couple questions still remain after reading the article if you dont mind:
1. is it true you have to have 5kâ,¬ at all times on a bank account  for residency if you arent a student/worker?
2. can I only apply for spanish healthcare if I become a resident? or are there some "loopholes" in order to quit my current healthcare and take the spanish one w/o having resident status.

and last but not least, can you recommend me some sites to look for an appartment for 2 months around 350â,¬/month? the offers I found where abit expensive in a 600-700 range.
