Ecomuseum La Alcogida


The EcoMuseum The Alcogida is located in the central-north of Fuerteventura, near the village of Tefía.


The Ecomuseum Alcogida consists of seven restored houses keeping the traditional architecture of the island, in which we find craft workshops and exhibitions about what life was like for Fuerteventura peasants in ancient times.


This museum recreates the lifestyle in the countryside in Fuerteventura in the nineteenth century. There are simulations of how housing was for humble and  wealthy people, and activities of that time (Goldsmith, baker, looms , carved stone, grinding grain, straw, etc..), and there is a good representation of the island's livestock (goats, donkey majorero, camels, etc..).



The Museum is divided into several houses in which we find all the elements mentioned above. It is an interactive museum where visitors can see the craftsmen working in situ, and ask any questions you may have.


There is also a small bar and gift shop.
A visit is highly recommended to se the harsh conditions and lifestyles in the countryside in Fuerteventura in the nineteenth century.

















The Ecomuseum La Alcogida is open Tuesday through Saturday, at a time of 10.00 to 18.00.

You are welcome MLA. The houses remind me a little bit of the old Irish cottages. I guess the lifestyle was similar in a way apart from the weather. I enjoyed the little video. Hopefully I will get to visit it some day.

Brilliant place to go.  I think one of the best places to visit on the island. You will not be disappointed with it if you make the effort to go :-)
