Checked out weather maps on North Atlantic sailing charts - bouts of heavy rain and strong winds forecast till Friday, but lets hope the worst misses us!

Still heading towards us from the south - first rain due tomorrow at about lunchtime then rain on and off with some very strong wind, heavy rainfall and showers, thunder and lightning,  through until Friday. Let's hope it misses us!

If we do get very heavy rain please be careful of flash floods. Torrents form in minutes as surface water gathers in the barancos and rushes down to the sea often crossing roads. Don't take any chances!

Windy as hell in El Cotillo. The sign by the new bus terminus has just folded in half - still the rain will dampen down the dust a tad. Every cloud etc.

OK, I will most likely get flamed for this, but does Fuerteventura not actually need a good downpour now & again? In my 18 years of visits, I have only seen it rain once, apart from the odd drop that dried up as fast as it landed.

Saying that, the time it did rain, there where a few land slips onto the road & the hotel roof was found wanting

Depends on what time year.    We are usually there Dec/Jan/Feb.  I've seen the terrace fill up like a swimming pool on a couple of occasions.  And I know it can go into houses if there is flash flooding.  Nice for the plants though.

The island does need a good downpour now and again, but it is quite worrying when it happens because of the flooding it causes.  My house, and my neighbours, were seriously flooded in Nov 2010 and Jan 2011, and we always fear that it might happen again, despite the Ayuntamiento improving the drainage systems.

Heavy rain for the last half an hour in Caleta, but it's brightening up now.

We have had strong winds, a few heavy showers & (thunder, not common here) in Corralejo. Yes we do need a good downpour every now & then. Not had much here for almost 3 years (yes Captain, they do cause trouble as well, we know).  Will help to keep the bugs off the plants too. As said, every cloud ---. Looks like the forecast is much more tomorrow.
