Edinburgh Airport Sucks!

Anyone else think that Edinburgh Airport is grim?
Arrived there in plenty of time for my 6.25am flight to find the q for security all the way back on the first floor - there was almost a pileup at the top of the escalator because there was nowhere to go.
Only half of the boarding pass machine checkers  were working and then 5 of the luggage scanners were not manned. Despite this we were still fairly near the start of Others Q. Then some rude, officious Eastern European Servisair agent insisted on us checking our carry on bags into the hold. She would not take no for an answer despite the fact that there was nowhere near the so called Ryanair Carry on Bag limit in front of us.

What annoys me most of all is that they claim they are trying to expand and encourage more airlines to use the airport when it can't even cope with the current traffic.

This got me wondering...
Has anyone refused to put their hand baggage in the hold? Can they refuse to let you on the plane if you do?
Also I considered tearing the the tag of the bag and peeling the sticker off the boarding pass once though the gate - has anyone done this?

You may think this is a bit of an overkill.....but I have seen the way they treat hold baggage at Edinburgh Airport....disgraceful! They deliberately try and wreck bags by throwing them around as hard as they can when it would be much easier just to lift and lay!

You ought to try Birmingham airport. In the same way as the old whore said "it's not the sex it's the stairs!" -It's not the flying it's all the aggravation that goes with it !

I have been given a hold label for my carry on. I had not wanted to put it into the hold. I pulled the label off before reaching the plane and  carried the bag on. Very naughty. But no problems.
It baffles me, when hold bags are weighed and you are charged for every kg over. They try to encourage people to travel with only hand luggage, to reduce handling and time spent on the ground, then there are too many and some have to be put in the hold anyway, meaning handling is needed and time on the ground. They have no idea of the weight of these extra bags. This great cost and labour saving idea will only work when the plane design is such that there is enough room for as many bags as people.
Back on topic, rip your label off and keep walking!!

East Europeans are bringing their lack of manners and culture with them.

G4 Security were advertising for a Cleaning Superintendent yesterday, "Must speak Polish" in order to tell them what to do, God help us all.
