QuotePuerto del Rosario dressed in murals

A huge dinosaur ready to attack, stunning superheroes, balconies, windows and neighbors in their beautiful representations of infinite streets are some of the works that adorn the streets of Puerto del Rosario after the implementation of the Plan of Facades of the municipality, which began in July 2011 and through which more than 400 facades have been whitewashed and painted.

This ambitious commitment to the beautification of the capital included the so-called Plan mural, with the aim of making old walls, dividing walls and artwork to enjoy citizenship.

Since there are eight murals that the city of Puerto del Rosario has premiered in the capital, thanks to the work of artists like Dailos Paniagua, Luis of God, Juan Pedro Mendoza, Sophia and Lorenzo Mederos Martinsolar Deva, who with great dedication and enthusiasm have worn walls with murals located at high visibility sites in the capital.

Following the successful release of "Justice" by Pedro Mendoza, a work that pays tribute to the superheroes of the last carnival capital, the City of Puerto del Rosario opened the eighth city mural, done by Deva Martinsoler in c / Secundino Alonso and in which he depicts a young looking after a huge heart-shaped flower.

The Department of Planning and Environment portuense Consistory, who runs Carmen Delia Gutierrez, has highlighted the importance of this initiative, which makes Puerto del Rosario in a city full of life and artistic value.

Given the scale of the project, the capital's City Hall has appealed to companies and big brands, encouraging them to participate in this program as sponsors of artistic facades; the "Bottling Canarias" business group joined the initiative by sponsoring the first mural project, located in the Socrates Street and produced by Dailos Paniagua, in which the sponsoring firm and fun art form is included.

I do wish it wasn't so USA-centred. What do Batman and yellow NY cabs have to do with Puerto del Rosario? Why not goats, volcanoes and all the other local scenes? Or general Spanish ones?

Captain Sensible

They have made a big difference to the street scene in Puerto :D.

They've also tidied up a lot of vacant sites, and planted trees as well :)

The traditional Fuerteventura scenes are on the wall of the Puerto del Rosario primary school at the bottom of Calle Juan de Bethancourt.

Beats me that childish scribbling and pictures on the walls is looked on as an improvement. Hope it doesn't take on round our way.

I'm with the Captain on this one. A bit of colour, humour and some wit brightens up the place.

Not every mural is to my taste but it's still more interesting than a blank wall.

Deso

Maybe Banksy will pop over and do a couple?   :D

As said, it brightens the place up and looks better than a big plain flaky wall.

So long as it is done in moderation then I'm all for it.

Looking forward to the day I tick the "One way only" box when booking flights to Fuerte. [:)]

Captain Sensible

They'll be doing them in Corralejo after they've finished the 400 in Puerto.  That'll brighten things up :D ;D :P

In Corralejo I have seen two.  Lovely windmill one opposite Brismar and a great green door of a villa in one of the streets in front of Dino's in the centre.
Anyone know where there are others in Corralejo?

I remember when I arrived here 20 something years ago, Puerto was a soulless, industrial, miserable place to have to visit. Now it has transformed. Clean, bright and colourful.

I think they are heading in the right direction.

There's another one in Corralejo - which I don't really like - on the wall to your left after the last roundabout when you head to Lajares.

Banksy popped allong to our town but the council took exception to his 'mural' and it was removed a few days ago..he'd have been welcome to paint one on the side of my house  ;D 8) 8)

Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and im not sure about the former .....

People who get his work removed are nuts, even if they didnt want it there they should just cut the wall out and get it replaced, the work to rebuild a wall would be peanuts compared to what you could sell his artwork for.

maybe open a few burger joints and and a couple of KFCs in Cotillo. should fit in nice with all the new cartoon grafitti. Maybe even open a Disneyland resort and have done with it.

I got a belt round the ear from the local copper for drawing on the pavement in chalk, a long long long time ago, then taken home where I got belted again by my Dad.....then again, now I think about it, my friend and I were trying to pee ithe chalk marks away, maybe that was the source of the beltings....you'd probably get put on the register now or something.....
