Just back from Ajuy after spending the day there today. There was a dead body wrapped up in white at the beach with the police folk doing their thing. Anyone know more about what happened?

He was on holiday in Corralejo, on a regular visit. He got caught in a big wave and the struggle caused him to have a heart attack. Spoke to his wife last night. Devastated.

in general this is a very bad idea to take a swim there. Very very dangerous changing waves and undertows. Its also not called "playa de los muertos" for nothing.

Besides the lagoones in Cotillo there is NO place on the west side that I can recommend for swimming for the average person. Even for very young and fit people its very dangerous. Almost lost my bf there 10 years ago and he was a professional Basketballplayer at the time at 6'8'' and 240lbs.
Everyone should be very cautious on the west side and leave it to the surf pros imho.
