Does anyone know how to login and get access in English on an iPad?

TamaraEnLaPlaya

I've never managed access in English on my laptop - I just muddle through the site in Spanish. I find I have to log in on every single page I navigate to - its a right pain but as I only use it for Empadrons I can put up with it.
I'd be interested to see an answer re iPads as I need to show a friend how to access it on her iPad.
Good luck!

Tamara I use chrome and use the google translate extension which automatically translates the whole page into English.  You can use the site to check the catastral valor each year without having to go into La Oliva or Corralejo, which is useful when filling in tax forms. The site is useful to find out when and how much the various taxes are due and the cost.

Very good information. Thank you.

I've just bought a place in El Cotillo and have managed to register online with Endesa for my electricity and indeed I have just received my first bill by email.

Next I need to try and do the same with both the La Oliva Ayuntamiento and CAAF (water) websites. I'm hoping it is possible to receive my water bills electronically from CAAF and maybe even any council tax and other correspondence from La Oliva ? Has anyone managed to set all this up ?

One thing I have noticed when registering with Endesa and indeed with La Oliva when I tried just now, is that they both have had trouble recognising my NIE. I'm entering it as a capital Y followed by a 7 digit number followed by a hyphen followed by a capital Z and without any spaces. Do they tend to require it in a different format sometimes ?

Thanks in advance,

Ernie

Yup!  Only way I could register with Endesa was to put my NIE number under the Residencia tab.  It worked........!

To view the La Oliva website and your personal details you need to go to here first

https://carpeta.laoliva.es/eParticipa/Products/Carpeta/Public/Requests/RequestsBrowsePublic.aspx?AppScope=CIUDADANO

Then you need to register for a pin number (Go to proceeding section and then click on arrange online and then request pin) You should then get an email back eventually after you ahve filled in some details you then have to take the email into either Corralejo or La Oliva (you physically have to go) where they will register you on their system.

While you are at the office ask them for a form if you want to arrange payment by direct debit, Take all your bank details, NIE, passport etc and any other paperwork. If you have not registered for your padron take your deeds as well.

Ernie

Thanks beach,

Yes that's the form I've filled out. For some reason it didn't like my NIE so have selected pasporte in the drop down menu and entered my passport number. Unfortunate as I have a genuine NIE but there you go, I await their email.

Many thanks for the explanation that I need to physically visit the offices with this email, and how to go about setting up direct debits etc.

I only received my deeds from my lawyer last week when I was over there. I've now brought them back to the UK to read through and scan onto my computer before bringing them back out on my next trip. Thanks to those on this site who said I should ask for my "barcode stickers" at this point - I now have them.

But you have flummoxed me by saying I need to register for my "padron" using these deeds. Can you please explain what you mean as I am unfamiliar with this term ?

Have you had any joy carrying out your CAAF business online ?

Cheers

Ernie if you are a property owner the council like you to register with them as they get money from the mainland based on the number of people who are registered with them.

Easier for you to read this link (although it refers to Gran Canaria it also applies to Fuerteventura)

http://www.grancanariaguru.com/gran_canaria_empadronamiento

By the way empadronamiento is also referred sometimes for short as "padron".

My water bill with CAAF was setup as a dd by my solicitor when I purchased so have never dealt online with them. However I can never work out how they work out the bills, I know I should take more note of it but its too much hassle and everything usually works out right in the end.

By the way not sure if you will be able to register for the La Oliva website without having registered your property for empadronmiento. Which is why you might be having problems with getting identified by the system.

Ernie

Thanks again beach. Wow, I've got a lot to do at the La Oliva council offices and am a touch daunted to be honest. Just so I can be clear, this padron application isn't just for people wanting to become tax resident ? I have no intention of becoming such in the foreseeable future. But if it facilitates more money for the council to provide services  :D then it clearly is worthwhile setting up.

Another couple of questions if I may ...

When I picked my deeds up last week my solicitor said that La Oliva will automatically bill me for the local taxes when they become due. However I was told that no such communication will be issued by the central government for me to pay my annual non-resident income tax, and that I need to proactively make this declaration and payment by the end of the following year without any preempting by the government. Does this sound right in your experience ?

As for the local taxes, are they paid in installments thus making a direct debit a necessity or are they all paid in one lump thus making it less pressing to get such an arrangement set up ? I was told to expect all the La Oliva bills in May ?

Cheers

The padron does not make you a Spanish tax resident, I am a non resident but have the padron. I pay the non resident tax but am a UK tax payer. So don`t worry padron does not change your tax status all your normal tax liabilities are with the UK unless you become a Spanish fiscal resident.

The non resident tax you refer to is if you are not going to rent your property out. I have covered this numerous times on the forums. If you wish to discuss this either pm me or if you are visiting in March I am happy to talk you through it if you want to go through it face to face. Or you can wait till the end of the year as you pay the non resident a year in arrears. So if you bought the property in 2013 you  have till 31/12/14 before you have to pay the tax, if you completed in 2014 you have till 31/12/15 to sort the tax out.
