Hi, moving over in March and want to know please how we go about getting Sky if we bring over our box.  Think I read somewhere that we would need to keep an adress in the UK to do this, we can't leave it registered at our current address but could we say we've moved and give a parent's address?  Not sure how that would work, has anyone done anything similar?  Thanks  :)

If you have relatives or friends who have Sky but not multiroom, you could get them to add multiroom and you could pay them the difference, £11.75 a month I think.

So long as it is set up at their home and the card is paired to the box you can bring the card and box with you.

Technically, it is supposed to be connected to the phone line at the registered premises for the length of the contract. In practice, you SHOULD be OK. I have my multiroom box in our apartment. It is a room in our house after all.   ;D

Which bit of Fuerte are you moving too?

Hi Deso, we are moving to Corralejo.  Don't have any relatives with Sky but wondered if we told Sky we were moving to our parents address if that would work, I suppose we would have to take the Sky box there one time to set it up or maybe not even have to do that?  We could then just carry on paying for it as usual as we will be keeping a UK bank account.  Does anyone know if that would work or have done it themselves?

Yes, that should work fine. If you already have the box in use at your current address then it will already be paired up and working.
Just ring them to change your address details and tell them there is already a dish at your 'new' address.

On the phone line thing, if you are out of the 12 month contract with Sky then you don't have to have your box plugged in to a line. Bearing in mind, if you have upgraded your box or taken on the HD package, they will have started your contract period again.

Nobody has mentioned the problems now Sky have gone onto the new satelite plus the size of the dish needed.

I have added a couple of posts to this topic...... http://www.fuerteventura-forum.com/index.php?topic=17282.0

2E has now arrived on station and it is expected that channels on 1N will move first. Bad news for those can that still get BBC and ITV on a 1.9m dish as they will most likely move to the UK beam, but should be better news for the rest of us with 1.2m as the Sky channels that went missing last year, SHOULD, return as the 2E European beam is more Canary friendly than 1N's was.

Some things will change in the next few weeks but we still have to wait the arrival of 2G, later in the year, to get the full picture.  :)
