They are very rigid with their billing when they accept meter readings which makes it a pain when we are away when they want it and there is rarely anyone available  on their on-line chat. EDF were more flexible and easy to chat to online.  They also have penalties for leaving early.

Have you considered having a Smart Meter? Personally I don`t want one as I feel they are doing someone out of a job....but in your situation it would help

We have a smart meter for the electricity, it allows you to see how much power you are using but don't see that it puts people out of work - we have supplied our meter readings for years. Even though they can read it remotely they rely on me supplying the reading. Got around my problem by getting my sister to read them for me.
