Which Car Hire company is the easiest & quickest to collect & return car when arriving at the airport, last year we had to wait for a taxi to take us to their office then collect the car & similar in reverse on the way back which was rather a pain. Therefore which ones are actually based at the Airport not a few miles away?

It's Cicar for me, though others will have different recommendations.

Last time I was there I saw there was no queue at the Cicar window as I entered the baggage hall. I went straight there and had the car keys in my pocket by the time our bags appeared on the conveyor. I reckon we were out on the road before the last passenger had collected their case.

PlusCar is probably the easiest.  They wait with the car in a designated parking space, very close to the exit from arrivals.  All the detailsare on their confirmation email. There's no queuing involved, just wander over the road to the car park, sign the paperwork and pay with your credit card, and drive away.  PlusCar don't operate the fuel scam either - you just return the car with the same amount of fuel in it.  On return, you just park it in the same place, leave it unlocked with the keys and parking ticket under the floor mat, and go to check-in.

I agree with Tiger in that's its as quick as I have accessed my car. Deal takes a few minutes and off we went.
The rep said just leave the same amount of petrol in it and that'll do it.
Painless and cheapest I could find at the time of looking.

Thanks for the replies, one further question.
Is it any cheaper to book from the UK or just call in the office and get one?

If you go for Plus Car, book from the UK - I don't think they have a desk as such at the airport, but their depot is nearby. You can select and book what you want, but they don't take any payment until you collect the car.

Cicar, Payless and Cabrera Medina prices are always better if booked online and I'm sure the same will apply to Plus Car.

Payless every time...hubby gets the car while I wait for the bags ..sorted  ;D
Book online before you go...easy peasy  ;D

I have used Payless for up to 22 weeks per year for the last 5 years, but owing to their price hike am now trying Plus Car next Saturday for a 4 week hire.

Yes, they are pretty good.  And on several occasions I've had a free upgrade to a better car.
