How do you scrap a car in Fuerteventura

Deso

There is a car scrap yard near the hospital I believe, I am sure they could do the paperwork or point you in the right direction.
i imagine a grasp of Spanish will be required, as well as a few reams of paper work.  :D
Regards, Neil
Looking forward to the day I tick the "One way only" box when booking flights to Fuerte. [:)]

928 543 331 reculparador canaria (I think that's what it's called anyway)!!... they will come & take the car away and give you the paper to present to the ayuntamiento to stop the road tax etc. Hope this helps.

bridlife

Thank you both and Woodside, is it a problem if it is uk registered. It's a friend of mine who does not live here permanently, but drove it over here.

Admin. I believe  this was in it's rightful place queries and questions. The section you have moved it to is totally irrelevant to the issue, and I doubt if anyone will read it here. I looked for a motoring section and could not find one. The vehicle is from the UK, taxed and MOT'd in the UK,and therefore is not taxed in la oliva, or subject to Residencia or N.I.E.

woodside

It may well be more complicated being a UK registered vehicle... it all depends on the history, e.g. was DVLA informed of the change?  Was the car imported here, or just driven here with no Customs´entry... if so, then I would suggest you contact a gestoria for their advice.

bridlife

Thanks once again, Woodside. I will pass this useful information on to my friends who own the car.

The DVLA is possibly their biggest problem. DVLA need to see where the car has ended up.
SORN it straightaway.
In UK, you MUST take the vehicle to a 'Authorised Treatment Facility' who will give you a 'Certificate of Destruction' to satisfy DVLA. If you scrap the vehicle yourself, you must SORN it each year !?!? You can also write to tell them you no longer have the vehicle. If they know you scrapped it abroad, you'll probably have to 'export' it to keep the paperwork right. And pay duty.

If it were me, I'd photograph it being chopped, then send the V5, the photos (being careful of the background) and a letter along with the cut-out VIN plates as proof. But that's just me.

Just donate it to Orlando car hire.

Inform the DVLA it's been exported - QED

But you were asking how to scrap a car in Fuerteventura not the UK so it's a 'Local Paperwork' issue.

In Puerto there is a Mechanics College - or course in Majada Marcial - and they are always in need of cars for their students to work on. I don't have the details and it's the holidays right now but I could find out if you wish.
