Car Tax due yet?

   Anyone re-newed their Car Tax yet? I remember going down to Corralejo this time last year & being told to come back "in a week or so!! so wanted to know if office is accepting the money yet!!

I received a reminder last week.(first time this has happened)You have until the 3rd june to pay and after that there is interest charged.5%.

Yeah, thats what prompted the question, just wondered if anyone had actualy "been & done it" yet!

Looks like they have changed dates for receipts of taxes.

IBI is due between 1 April and 28 June

Car tax and Rubbish  from 2 Sept. - 29 November

I've got mine on DD with the town hall in the Caleta area but it hasn't been taken yet but that's no surprise as they cocked up the rubbish payment last year and tried to fine me for late payment. Nice try boys.

As far as I'm aware Antigua and La Oliva collect at different times so has any one had their DD taken yet?

If mine goes out I'll post it so you can keep an eye on your accounts.

I have mine by DD in Caleta also. The Basura was taken last year on 3/05/12. Nothing taken so far.

   OK, the definitive answer, as experienced this morning!!

Correlejo office open 0800-1400 Mon-Fri. Up to first floor, take a ticket, 10 min wait.
Only docs needed was the renewal slip, but do not take cash, debit/credit card only (bank for cash)

Renewal slip stamped & receipt issued. All done & dusted in 5 mins for another year.

We had our Car tax renewal in the post yesterday. Same thing -5% if you pay on time.    Wanted to pay by cash, did not really want them having our Bank details!

What's everyone paying? And how do you go about querying the amount? Will they discuss the matter in the office at Corralejo, or do they just want to take your money?

The reason I ask is that we had our car put onto Spanish plates towards the end of last year, and we were expecting a bill around 50€, based on what I'd read here and elsewhere. But they want 92.80€ for a little Opel Agila, 1.2 litre engine, with a fiscal horsepower of 10. It's less than three years old so it isn't a guzzler - low consumption, low emissions etc.

Does that seem a normal amount to pay?

Last year, for a similar sized car, mine was about 40 Euros.
Have no idea what it will be for this year, but likely to be more.  That does seems a lot Sheila! Was that for last year's payment?

We have had an Opel Corsa from new here for 7 years. Every year the same @34€. Now gone up to 43.96€ = -5%.
Mustn't grumble too much.

We paid last autumn for what was left of 2012: cost us 10€ but I'm not really sure what the period was as our "arrival date" depends on how you calculate it.

Thanks for the confirmation that they're likely confusing our little run-around with a Porsche or something . We'll have to go in and have a word.

Thanks to this forum, we've managed to save 50€ per year!    

Because of what was said here we took our payment slip into Corralejo and actually queried it rather than just paying up. The woman looked at our registration document and her screen, then called a colleague over. About 10 minutes later they'd come to the conclusion that Trafico made some sort of mistake-up. Although the Fiscal HP on the registration document says 10, as it should, the one in their records is something considerably higher.

They told us the bill will be 40-something (my Spanish isn't good enough to catch the "something"), but we will have to wait until June to pay it for some reason. I suppose that could mean us having to stump up an extra 5% this year, but that's a lot better than 92.80€! We'll also need to have a word with Trafico sometime to get them to change their own records, but that isn't urgent. We have to get driving licences soon anyway, so we'll be round the corner.

I have just paid my car tax online, very straightforward even if you don't speak Spanish. Only quirk was entering the IDENTIFICACION, leave out the spaces. They send you an email confirmation and let you save a copy of the payment confirmation in pdf format to print out. This was via a La Oliva website.
