If you are deemed overweight to the extent you are causing discomfort to other fare paying passengers, and if you cannot prove it is due to medication, ie a doctors report, then a nice 20% fat tax sounds appropriate to me.

St Michael might even consider Lard opening at the lower end of the alimentary canal through which solid waste is eliminated from the body flights. Only for the overweight and at a price to cater for extra fuel consumption. Wider seats and aisles for maximum comfort, and 15 stone stewardesses so they don't feel disadvantaged or persecuted.

Everyones a winner then

have you seen this article about the easyjet flight from Liverpool to Geneva could not take off because it was too heavily loaded. some passengers had to get off Every aircraft type has strict rules about the total weight it can carry, depending on factors such as the length of the runway, the air temperature and the distance to be flown. To compute the weight limits, airlines have the option of weighing each passenger and their baggage. But British airlines instead use an estimate of how much each passenger weighs.

The rules issued by Europe's Joint Aviation Authorities instruct the airlines to assume that each male passenger weighs 88kg, and each female 70kg (children of either gender score 35kg).

We are getting fatter compared to years ago, thats a fact, for whatever the various reason. Main one being the type and amount of food we eat. Processed food in particular is full of sugars, salts and fat to make them more tasty.  If you were to taste this stuff without the salt, sugars and fat, it would taste like number two.

Now I read that vets are seeing more and more Horses with back problems due to the fat or overweight riders!

And now we have planes that can't get off the ground.  What next a levy imposed on us by David Cameron for being overweight and taxing the health care system?

Just eat less of it. Works every time.

Totally agree with you Stedge.  I stopped eating processed number two last August and shed 2 stone, I look a whole lot better, feel better and have re-discovered how good home cooking that the wife was famous for!!

Fantastic! In that case I can have 36kg of luggage and still be within limits. Decathlon here I come!

RVEEE

I remember watching a documentary once featuring thousands of people all with health problems.

Not a single one of the problems caused obesity. In fact everyone shown was thinner than me.

/The documentary was about the famine in Ethiopia.

Have you seen the size of the average Samoan? They're Huge.

And Air Samoa only fly Cessnas and Islanders! A bit optimisitic, really :o

Joke about weights vrs planes.

2 irish hunters were out in the wilds of the Rockies shooting deer, after shooting 4 deer, they called in the Cessna to pick them up.

On landing the pilot said, 4 deer shot, sorry this plane won't take the weight buddy. Pat said it did the last time we were over, albeit it was a different company.
So the pilot said oh ok then, lets give it a try.

With the plane loaded up with them and the deer he tried to take off, and get to a decent altitude, only to crash land a few miles away.  Pat said to Mick "where do you think we are?" Mick said "not far from where we crashed last year methinks"?

If only they had flown with Samoan airways  ;D ;D

This thread has read my thoughts...I like woe weigh only 8 stone, I priority book now, me by the window and hubby next to me, he's only marginally bigger than me and you hope a pray you don't get a lardy next to you.  I remember a flight back from Malta and a person sat next to us, his wife across the aisle neither could fit their seat belts around them and wanted to move to other seats, they could not understand why even if they moved the belts would not fit.... sigh

peggy

I would love to see pay-as-you-weigh airfares. I too have sat by an overweight person for 4 hours who had the cheek to put up the arm rest and use half of my seat to accommadate their bulk. As for the diabetes thing - my husband has type 2 and has been able to control his weight with his diet. Self control is a lot to do with it.

As my son is light can I offset my lard opening at the lower end of the alimentary canal through which solid waste is eliminated from the body wieght with his ??

If we are going down this route why not have Flights for over 18's only as they have introduced for some Hotel accommodation. ;D

What a great idea ;D

I would like to see ugly people banned as well, some right mingers that I have had to sit next to on recent flights  :o

So no fatties, over 18's only and only us good looking passengers allowed. Never mind speedy boarding, I would pay a premium to be surrounded by fellow perfect people :P

Ban whingers from the plane. Most of this forum would be gone, that would leave plenty of room for fat fcukers like me.

Screaming kids and babies on flights should be controlled too. Nobody should be made to endure 4 hours of this "Chinese Torture"  :o  when they've paid extortionate fares  :'(

peggy

In an ideal world there would be no fatties no screaming kids kicking hell out of the back of your seat and no moaners!!! We can dream.

For those of you who are tired of flying with the Riff-Raff, you can always buy your own VIP jetliner.

A mere 54 million euros  :o

duncolm

I would offer to split the cost with you, but that would rather defeat the purpose..... ;D
