NATS Statistics Confirm Ryanair Is One Of The UK's Most Safety Compliant Airlines


Ryanair, Europe's only ultra-low cost carrier (ULCC), today (28 Feb) welcomed the latest quarterly performance data from NATS (the UK's Air Navigation Service Provider) which confirmed Ryanair's outstanding performance on key safety measures.

Ryanair was once again amongst the best performing airlines for minimising level busts, reducing callsign confusion incidents and compliance with ATC procedures (as set out below).

My worry is not the Ryanair,Aer Lingus,Easy Jets etc, but the clowns in the other driving seats. Probably ATC confusion the worst of all. As my late father would say, when driving always imagen a bigger Ejit than you around the next bend.

I never worry on planes but I do in cars.....frequently.

I always wanted to fly a plane Dagwood and booked several lessons with Iona  when I was 20 but each time when I phoned in advance of the flight the weather conditions were always bad and the lessons cancelled so I gave up. I never wanted to drive a car but did ....and thats why it took me 23 years to pass my driving test.....im a nervous wreck in a car but as calm as anything on flights.

There are Sunday flights in August Joy and they put on some extra Wednesday flights too. They seem to be adding extra flights as they need them.

Hi Fifi, I have about 75 hours as pilot in charge of a private plane but the eighties ression put a stop to this crack. I have started doing a bit lately again and enjoying it. Now if the ould medical holds out I could be up there solo again in the near future. Oh and of course a brush up on the ground studys. I hope there is some room left on the old memory chip to take it in.

Groupon had a good flight lesson offer this morning but it was for Kilkenny....only 65 euros for the first lesson. I was tempted but would prefer Dublin. http://www.groupon.ie/deals/dublin-special

Years ago the lessons were 42 pounds and I was earning 52 pounds a week at the time.....they must cost a fortune now.

Did you ever meet The Dean from the Forum? He has a pilots license too. If not I must arrange an introduction for you because he is Caleta based.

I have been in Newtownards and its 155 stg per hour for a Cessna 172 mid week when under instruction. You could look it up under Ulster flying  club. They have some smaller planes I cant rember the make and they work out a bit less. Goes to show how busy I am when Im typing this potty poo poo.

Prob cost 8000 stg to get a licence but it would over 2 to 3 years as the weather has a big effect as you know. I think the Ufc had less than 50% of the normal flying hours with the wet summer. Planes sitting on the tarmack cost money as M OLeary would say.

True but you need the bucks up front. At home you can do an hour or even a half hour when it suites.

I`m guessing here but I would have thought the cost of fuel would be cheaper in the states, there will certainly be more flying schools and competition brings down prices. Must be hard work attaining your ppl with limited funds, do flying hours in gliders still get taken into consideration?

You could indeed! It was slightly worrying that the hole was filled in and the house demolished without any real attempt to find out if the guy had survived. I mean, he could have landed on his mattress and just been a bit winded, or too traumatised to yell for help. They just didn`t care, "Fill it in quick before anyone notices and the value of our property suffers" was the action plan.

A friend of mine used to have her own plane and she was telling me recently when we were out to lunch about how her son upped  his hours for his licence. He  used to fly the  private plane to Las Vegas. All of the planes when they landed  were met by  Limos  from the Casinos . It was  presumed  that they were wealthy because of the way that they had travelled  and  they  were transferred free of charge to the Hotels,  put up for free and  wined and dined for free .  They had the free limo service back to their planes and the driver would always ask...did you have a good night at the tables Sir......of course he always said yes even though he had not used the tables at all  

It was the cheapest and probably most enjoyable way to get your hours up.
