In todays economy I guess you would have more success as an Icecream salesman in the Arctic,lol
Seriously the job situation over there is pretty bleak with lots of locals unemployed, but if you have enough cash to live independently for say a year you could give it a go, plus if you were to work legally you would need to pay your own Social Security.
The new rules regarding getting Residencia have just got a lot tougher as well with you now having to prove you have sufficient means and health cover for you to not be a drain on the Spanish government.

I seriously doubt that it would be a good idea to leave all you have going for you in the UK, just to have a change. The stresses of moving to a different country, particularly if you don't speak the lingo, are enormous. Don't even think of it unless it's a total passion, something you're really bursting to do, something that you're willing to risk a lot for.

Believe me, I know what I'm talking about! I left the UK in 1993 for the Netherlands, then France and now here. It isn't just stressful, it can be downright terrifying! And it doesn't get much easier with experience. I'm having loads of stress and trouble starting over again here, but at least I expected it this time!

As well as there being no jobs here, there is no mains gas, no central heating systems, no copper pipe systems (all plastic) and domestic hot water usually supplied by easy fit thermos tank or solar heaters. What plumbing there is, is in the main simpler and different from UK plumbing and you may find your skills less marketable here.
