I'm stuck indoors at work on the cold windy Isle of Wight - and there isnt anything interesting in the first place that they could cancel. At least the TT will be on later. Does that make you feel better?

Hi all - it was a lovely day today near Coventry and England looked at it's very best. Travelling south over the next few days to catch the ferry to Santander. At least I'll be partly home, only a few hundred miles to Cadiz and then the ferries to Lanzarote and Fuerte - photos to follow

Stuck in departures fuerte airport, cold beer in my hand. 26 deg. plane delayed 3 hrs back to uk. Its a hard life!!

Weymouth today - beach busy as the sun was out although the wind felt a bit chilly to me - I had my coat on

Went to Portland Bill and had battered fish and mushy peas for lunch - lovely. Not so bored but looking forward to the journey home next week = Portsmouth, Santander, Valladolid, Salamanca, Seville, Sotogrande, Cadiz and home. Wish me luck my motorbike is nearly 30 years old!

First IOW Festival - Jefferson Airplane, Arthur brow, I ran the bar
Second - Bob Dylan -, the newspapers concession
Third and greatest festival ever - check out the bands, I ran the catering [600,000 people!!]

I'd be disappointed if I went to modern, highly commercial festivals

Valladolid last night - Caceres tonight. The road went up to 2000 meters and the view was outstanding. How I love ancient Spain. Small mountain villages perched on a hilltop surrounding a huge church

In Valladolid they pronounce the Y in desayuno as a J. I had to explain I was a foreigner from Las Canarias - then they understood

Shall we go for callos tonight and really launch the boat or wait till Seville tomorrow? Callos tastes like thick white bread soaked in a tomato sauce - it's tripe, no really it's tripe!

Last night was fresh made croquettas washed down with a 14% local negro wine, deluxe

Caceres is an old walled town - a little sleep, then out for a walk before dinner

No I didn't go for the tripe - in fact I had a wander round the hostel and didn't find any restaurants, the hostal was at the top of a hill, and I've learnt over the years, go up hill at the start of an evening so you can roll home at the end of the evening, so I was sort of stuck! However, when you had a beer in a local bar they offered you a pincho [stand by girls]. Now a pincho [for the few on this forum that don't know] is a small taster of a tapa, [no Derek not a tap - he's got a cupboard full of spare taps "just in case!"] salchicha, bocherone, tortilla, roast beef, chevaux burger, etc. So - if you drink enough you are no longer hungry, you just cannot stand up!

Any road up - I ended up ordering Pollo and got a very poor version of Kentucky Fried Chicken! The wine was delicious again though, so all good

Desjuno - churros and cafe con leche

In Saville tonight - named after Jimmy of "Fix It" fame. {Did you see a love child of his has popped up [not popped out, she's late 40's and a dead ringer for James - poor girl, wears soooo much bling]. God it's hot, I remember now why we decided to live in Fuerte, it's alot cheaper. The Moors were a major influence in this part of Spain so I'm having a few beers and a Falafel Special with chips
Tomorrow - Costa Inglesa - Estapona, fish and chip and Eki Thump - or for those of us in the know, eh Admin, wink wink, Iki Thump!!

i'm in Soto Grande - its a VERY large development of millionaire villas on the Costa Del Sol. It has a security fence around it and guarded gates at all the entrances. Is this to keep the toffs in or the likes of me out?

The hotel I'm in is family run and it is obvious they are trying desperately to survive "the crisis". I hope they make it

Not feeling good tonight - can anyone cheer me up

It is an adventure stuff - do it, but spend more time, I'd guess six weeks to allow you to visit all of the old towns [Burgos, La Corruna, Compostaleta, Granada, etc, etc.] and drink up the culture - it's what Spain is all about, the mixture of European and Moorish history plus of course the food and drink

It needs research to, which I always find as much fun as the trip itself

I'm in a hurry to get home - 2 dogs and 5 cats + my special moggie, Neville are missing me! Ferry tomorrow, home Friday, Spike On Q on Friday - www.canaryuk.com, 6pm to 8pm UK anf Fuerte time

Well, we found the perfect place during this years festival.

Cornwall.

These modern festivals are just comercial expensive no fun for us.

Not like Freshwater and Wootton which were real happenings which couldnt ever be recreated.

You did the right thing you two. Were you around in the 60's. I was DJ at the Disco Blue, 69 Club, Royal York, Chequers Club, Seagull Ballroom, Medway and Ryde Queen, Keats Inn, Shanklin Pier, to name but a few!! between 1965 and 1974. A great time to be on the Isle of Wight

We both went to the 69 at the Royal York, but finally met at the Eastcliff.
I remember Spike at the Ryde Queen (still there - barely) & 69. I was ain the sea of faces. We haunted the Eastcliff, Clarendon, Brook House, Keats, Babalu.
Now all thats left is Colonel Bogeys.
