Toy museum

Thinking of visiting the toy museum (near Ikea) when next over in Caleta, has anyone been, driven past it dozens of times but never gone in.

Yes, we went soon after it opened. It may well have grown a bit since then. At the time, there was some nice stuff but all a bit far away and flat, if you know what I mean. The problem is that it's the owner's dream, and being done on a very small budget. Hopefully he'll make enough money to be able to afford all the staging, lighting, etc, etc that it really needs. I somehow doubt it though.

I was impressed with the cheese museum. I can see it would have been expensive as it's been done to a high standard but it's well laid out and informative.
Admission was cheap, you also get into the molino and the cactus garden, and I didn't even think that the products in the inevitable cheese shop were overpriced.

The Cheese museum (Museo del Queso Majorero) is on the road north out of Antigua, at the Molino de Antigua. When I visited it there was a lot of groundwork going on outside it. I understand they're creating a lot of level space to hold markets and open air-events.

Thanks to Captain Sensible on the radio show today, the annual artisans fair, normally around the sports ground, has been moved to the new site here. It is Friday, Saturday and Sunday next weekend. Highly recomended and not to be missed

Salt, cheese, all we need now is an onion museum with a potato crisp annex. Eat your heart out Walkers, Antigua. -  the new Leicester!

Try the Fishing Museum at Faro del Gato, El cotillo, Chester; well worth a visit. Just beyond Los Lagos.

Another thought about the cheese museum is that it's making good use of some fine old buildings, it's not a new build. The same goes for the super old hospital building along the road at La Ampuyenta which has been redeveloped as a museum themed on religious history.
It's not as good a visit as the cheese museum though, or maybe that's just my prejudices.
