There's a new Facebook page called Fuerte Crimewatch, for reporting crimes and keeping track of where they may be happening.

May be of interest to some of you.

Hmm, vigilante expats solving crimes

What could possibly go wrong  :D

Nothing to do with solving crimes, just alerts for where and when they are happening.  This is the intro page:

"This Group was created for people to post crime activity taking place on Fuerteventura in a bid to reduce the crimes committed and make the Island an even safer place than it already is. By standing together we can not only alert the community of crime trends but also to announce details on stolen items making it harder for the perpetrators to profit from their actions."

I don't think it is bad thing to at least be AWARE of what may be occurring.

Brightspark

Not a bad thing at all provided it's moderated well.
The problem I see is (and Facebook is the worse for it) if you have a large group of people it generally doesn't take long for false accusations to fly about, especially unfortunately in Fuerteventura where chinese whispers are rife and said false accusations could cause a group of people to become judge, trial and jury.
