A couple of hours ago I was about 3-4 miles south of Caleta and heading north. There's a spot where the limit drops to 60 from 90 due to a junction off to my right.

Parked in this zone, on the verge on the opposite side of the road and facing south was a car with the camera rigged up through the windscreen pointing south down the road.

I'm hoping they were waiting for southbound traffic to come past and then zap them from the rear. I'm sincerely hoping they weren't zapping on coming traffic heading north across on the opposite side of the road. I was doing 70 at the time (

Is there any hard and fast rule as to where this camera will have been pointing with the situation as described ? Do they tend to zap the front or rear of cars and do they also zap from the opposite side of the road ?

They work best, or in your case possibly worse, when a vehicle is coming toward them. It gives the camera chance to measure your speed and then snap you as you approach them, your number plate is easier to get a clear picture when it is nearer. 

If they did snap you then it depends how rigidly they want to enforce the limit. They may allow a bit of leeway if you weren't too far over the limit, or then again???

You'll need to see them otherwise you won't know where you've parked the car

As a general rule - it will be facing in the direction which will yield the most revenue  € € € € € €
