When I was in Rosario the other day I noticed my phone was an hour faster than it should be. The same happened last year when we went on a Canarys cruise, strange Samsung does not seem to know the time zones

It's the same with all the networks in the Canaries as far as I know.
Movistar, orange, vodafone etc all seem to use mainland Spains timezone.
So if you have your phone set to use the networks time and not it's own this is the result (+1 hour)

Understand bs, but a time zones a time zone not for the convenience of a corporation who can't be asked  :o

Well there's no way I can disagree with you mate.
Absolutely disgusting if you ask me, and a nightmare if your wandering the streets at night half cut thinking your out way past your bedtime when in fact your not  ;D

I've been on flights numerous times from UK to Fuerte when the Pilot has announced the time as being the same as mainland Spain. They've quickly corrected it after being told it was the same as UK.

My phone prompts me if I wish to adjust the time when I turn off flight mode after landing.

Funny this, I had the same problems with my old Nokia phones, irrespective of model, then I went Samsung smart phone, same problems. Now I am iPhone and no problem at all  :)

I have always been a Vodaphone customer.

I also had similar problems with both the Nokias and Samsungs, when I visited mainland Europe - Belgium, Germany, France, Switzerland (all with +1 hour time difference), it did not update automatically, made a right mess with my alarm calles.

I know some of the guys on here hate apple products, but I have not had this problem in the Canaries with my iPhone

PS - I have found the best thing is that when you turn your phone back on after a flight, then access the internet or your email and it will then recognise your location and time zone.

That's interesting, I guess the iphone could use GPS to configure it's time, which would be the best way to do it.
On a sidenote, although I don't like Apple, their product is second to none. The only reason I dislike the company is because of it's crazy overpricing.

We came out on the ferry from Huelva, starting on Madrid time. Then we must have sailed a bit west as our phones switched to Lisbon (=UK) time. Then we presumably came back into Spanish waters and the time went back to Madrid. I don't know what the problem is really but it's far wider than with just phones. It's a major headache if you're trying to run an internet business with clients and their deadlines in various parts of the world. I wanted to use a worldwide time-zone site but they had us on Madrid time. I talked to them about it and they're aware of the problem but can't do anything about it. I suppose Spain has just one time zone registered to it instead of the two it needs.
