Los Molinos Gorge restrictions

I came across this new sign while walking in the barranco last month, just a little way in from the village. It appears that the lower path is closed during the nesting season (15 Feb - 31 Jul). The sign has been strategically placed to direct walkers uphill  onto the higher path which runs along the top edge of the gorge.



This is a change from my last visit, a year ago, when the old sign only asked that you take care to keep quiet during the nesting period.

This path, and the one in Barranco de la Torre were both first closed for the nesting season about seven or eight years ago.  This one changed to "take care" about three years ago but the other remained closed. Now they are both fully closed again.  Both paths go through nesting sites of the Fuerteventura chat.

At least the bird hide on the Los Molinos trail is open; the one at Catalina Garcia seems to be permanently locked.
