Driving in Fuerteventura

Just back from a visit to Fuerteventura. I was a bit apprehensive, following some dire warnings about on-the-spot fines for driving topless/shoeless/wearing flip-flops/roundabout etequitte etc. I must say, driving was a doddle and I saw no hassle from the Policia. I was never stopped, though I came on a few 'road blocks' attended by 1-2 motorcycle cops. Hired cars are easily recognisable and I was always topless but never came to their attention. Drivers were, in general, very courteous, polite and well mannered. They seemed to obey the rules, indicated appropriately, stopped at zebra crossings and drive within the speed limits. Every day I drove around the Correlejo area and we drove down to Costa Calma / Jandia penninsula on two occasions. All in all, driving was a plesant experience, in Fuerteventura.
