Strange experience?

Hi, last night I was up again at about 2.15 am! Not unusual.
Looking out of my kitchen window, the cat was on the Post/Meter box, when out of nowhere came something??? almost no colour it swooped quietly down & around the cat fairly speedily, He jumped down immediately & tried to see whatever it was, very anxiously. No more sightings, left me & the cat pondering?
Can only think it may have been a Bat??? Are there any in the Caves at Los Llanos in Lajares? Or anywhere else?
Never thought of Bats being here before?.

Tamara get a life even if they did exist, and there is no logical reason they should not, except Human kinds pompous assertion that we are the only life form in the entire universe, why would they come here, unless of course they were lost.

Pipistrelle bats are resident in Fuerteventura, though I have never seen one. They are very small, and silent in flight

There is a type of bird (not an owl shape) that flies round at night, has a very loud shrill cry, not identifiable as its dark but certainly does swoop around after dark, seen the outline in the moonlight as they have flown past.

There are lots of animals/birds that I didnt know existed there, rabbits, hedgehogs, swifts/swallows, never even knew until I saw them

Could be a nightjar you're thinking of GT

The European nightjar over-winters in Africa and is a nocturnal insect feeder so often hunts for moths and such-like around lights

Even stranger than you think. To see nightjars you need to put a white hankie on your head, just like the sun seekers of old, and then whistle shrilly, and they'll come and fly within a foot of your head if you're lucky. My guess is that the cat has some white patches on it.

Great info. everyone! Heard a bird after dark, shrill sounding like a seabird-ish?
Seen most of the animals/birds around since we have been here a good few years now.
