Company receiverships hit record levels


The number of Canarian companies going into receivership has reached record levels, the latest figures show.
A total of 111 firms went into receivership in the islands during the second quarter of this year. The figure is a massive 136% higher than for the same period in 2012 and 98% up on the first three months of this year. 4 in 10 of the failed businesses were shops, with a further 22% companies in the construction sector, according to Spain's National Institute for Statistics (INE).

Its no wonder with the outrages rents they have to pay. In the Atlantico centre in Caleta there are several empty units that could do good business but they want several thousand Euros a month rent which makes most businesses unviable. They should offer them on a peppercorn rent for 6 months then the place would be buzzing.
