The holiday industry in the islands can look forward to one of its best ever winter seasons, if not the best, judging by the pace of bookings so far.
Rafael Gallego, chairman of Spain's travel agents association, says all the signs are that the period from November to Easter 2014 could well see "full house" signs in many hotels, aprticularly 4 and 5-star establishments, for which demand is already soaring, partly as a result of concerns at the political instability in traditional winter competitors such as Egypt. Hotel chain Lopesan has confirmed that many of its hotels will be at least 90% full during the winter and the figure could reach 100% in the coming weeks.
