radio has been going downhill ever since the marine(broadcasting) offences legislation. rip Caroline, radio London, Atlanta et al. and who could forget the "boss with all the hot sauce, your good guy, your main man, Jake" rip Jack Spector, legend. qfm? pah, (spits). Although it wasn`t too bad in the early days. Johhny B was it? can`t remember, perhaps Spike can.

I can remember Radio City - the pirate station that was set up in the old WW2 forts in the Thames estuary. I worked for it's owner Reg Calvert who was shot dead by the boss of Radio Atlanta. Reg not only owned the radio station but had a stable of pop groups - The Fortunes, Pinkertons Colours, Screaming Lord Sutch, etc. They were all based in my home town of Rugby

I also worked for Big L, Radio London, sadly not on the ship, but on their live gigs that they promoted around the Country in 1965 -66. I've still got all the old jingles

Yep QFM was owned and run by "The Boss", Johhny B, well that's what it said on his shirt, he has retired now and lives in Corralejo

It was Johnny B that saved the day when we needed someone to present the petition for flights at the Chamber of commerce at very short notice.  We were really grateful to him for doing that. I was in a right sweat, Gregorio Perez decided that he wanted another presentation infront of the tv cameras.....and I got a call in Dublin about an hour beforehand and had to try and organise it from 2000 miles away. This Forum has a great bunch of members.


I am on a trip down memory lane now.....do you remember when we were all going away to Fuerteventura on one cent or one pence flights? Sorry for changing the subject Paul. I prefer your show to Johnnys by the way.

Caroline and Big L still broadcasting although on the internet and SKY, plus there are RSL broadcasts from the ships, Caroline from the Ross Revenge and Radio North Sea from a converted lightship (Mebo 2)
