BAD NEWS!!!!!

At a meeting last week it was decided that CD Corralejo would not be playing in the 3rd Division this coming season, due to financial reasons. They have also decided that they will not put a team into the Preferente league.

This is the 3rd team that has been lost from the·rd Division following the demise of Playas de Jandia and UD Fuerteventura in recent seasons.

It will be interesting to see how CD Cotillo manage financially after their promotion to the Third Division.  Expensive trips have to be made to play away games in Gran Canaria, Tenerife, La Palma and La Gomera.

Bad news indeed but hardly surprising!
I watched CD Corralejo against Viera towards the end of April and I think I commented then that with no apparent shirt sponsor and with less than a hundred people at the game, how difficult it must be to run the club financially.
I had also been to watch Cotillo in The Preferente League the week before and didn't realise at the time that they had the same sponsors that Corralejo used to have with the Fuerteventura 'snail' logo as I call it and Danny Sport well in evidence.
There were also some three hundred people at the game so hopefully Cotillo will have some financial platform, at least for the short term.
So if Corralejo are not going to play in the Third Division or The Preferente League, are the fixtures for whatever the 'local' Fuerteventura League they are going to play in available?
If so, I trust you will post them on here as well as Union Puerto's (Preferente) and Cotillo's (Third Division) fixtures for the coming season.

A bit of travelling involved, but still potentially a few options to watch a game of footie in the sunshine.

I'll post fixtures when they are available.  I can imagine that there might have been a few withdrawals over the last few weeks.

This is bad news. Always used to enjoy going to the games when on the island.
Have often wondered how the club was financed considering the crowds tended to be pretty small and a 5 euro entrance fee wasn't going to bring in a lot of money.
They could have done a lot more in advertising matches and marketing the club in general - I'm sure they could have attracted many more tourists if they put posters up in bars, hotels etc.
At least there will still be a team from Fuerteventura in the Tercera Division next season so will go up to have a look at Cotillo for the first time.
