Rivero warns of 'tougher times ahead'


The president of the Canaries has warned that the Budget currently in the process of approval by the Spanish Parliament will  mean even more belt-tightening in the islands.

Paulino Rivero warned that essential services such as health and education will come under even greater pressure due to funding cuts. The national Budget envisages a reduction of 565 million in funding for the Canaries in 2013, which will force the regional government to further trim spending by all departments.
