Nice photo CMathews. :)

Careful who you copy from, some websites could take offence if you use up their bandwidth (or copyrighted material)

Actually F*** it, go for it Fifi ;)

Hi Dee Dee
I have tried to post a photo, I emailed the photo to myself, copied the whole URL. pressed insert photo, two sets of brackets showing , inserted URL inbetween, went to preview just showing URL code, no photo.

dee-dee

Make sure you get it right in the middle of the 2 brackets...slightly wrong and it won`t work  :)

dee-dee

I`ve just tried it myself with a pic from my emails and it worked fine  ;D

Plus, the smileys all show as keyboard characters, I have tried two pc's to rule out the hardware

Insert image

The picture has been opened in IE, then the URL pasted as instructed, (the H drive being its location)

Can you help please, I am a bit confused ?

Thanks

Just tried same method, here is the result, but just one thing why is the location of your photo on the H drive, this seems to suggest you have downloaded the picture first then got the photo info, the location should be something like http://images.maplin.co.uk/150/n34bx.jpg (as the pic shown below).

Essentially, if the picture you want to post is already on the internet, you have to right click the image first, then click properties, then copy the URL, then paste in between the image tags. You get the image tags by clicking the picture frame button above the smilies.

If the picture is one of your own, ie on your computer, you need to host the picture on an image hosting site, like PhotoBucket. Once hosted, copy the 'IMG code' and paste into your post. When using the IMG code on PhotoBucket, you don't need to use the forum image tags (picture frame button) as they are already copied when clicking IMG code on PhotoBucket, with two sets of image tags, the pic won't display.

Thanks for your replies

Yes, the photo's I want to upload are hosted locally on my computer, it is a corporate machine, hence the documents folder being on an H drive. That is why I tried to open with IE, then copy the URL from that, which didnt work

So I need to get the photo's on the net itself, not stored locally, before I can upload ?

It does seem a very complicated way of doing things

The issue with the smileys is strange, whilst typing they show as keyboard characters, once posted, they are the smiley images

I knew I should have stuck to being an Asda shopping trolley collector

Thought so thats why it didnt work, easy way as said upload photo to facebook, right click and choose view image info on right click, choose the address from the list (a preview is shown under the list so you get the correct one) copy that link and paste between brackets as explained earlier.

That's the norm mate.

Futhermore, if you don't have Facebook (like myself), you will have to use an image hosting site, like PhotoBucket, to host images on your hard drive.

dee-dee

Hi Steve, yes it can be a hassle posting pics  ::) but once you get the hang of it,you`ll be fine  ;)
All the ways that have been mentioned are all correct, the easiest way that I find is copying and pasting the URL image from my pics that I have put on Facebook  :)
The only other thing is....be careful when inserting into the brackets because if you are not dead in the middle it won`t work..good luck  ;D

Thanks everyone

It does make sense now, (un)fortunately I do not have a facebook account but I will get around it another way

I will try again later today to see if I can make it happen

PhotoBucket is the way to go then mate, I don't have Facebook either and I use PhotoBucket. The method for posting pics from PhotoBucket is in my earlier posts in this thread. Good luck  ;)
