i,ve got sky hd my dish is about 12 years old it has a small amount of rust, would this affect the signal thanks for any help ,

Could be several reasons, how big is the dish?
The LNB could be failing, the cable could be breaking down, especially any sections that are in the sun a lot or the dish may have moved or been distorted in the wind.

Are you getting break up of the picture and/or 'spiiting noises' in the sound?

We know a good man who could take a look for you if necessary without having to amputate any limbs to pay for it.
