Title: Telefonica phone and internet
Post by: Carlo on October 18, 2011, 14:15:11 PM
What's the average cost people are paying for line rental? Also, is the only way to get internet in Fuerte through Telefonica? Is there a combined 'package' for internet and phone line rental.

Cheers

Hi Carlo I dont know anything about Telephonicas internet but you can get pay as you go internet from Canarynet for €30 a month. (no phone line needed) If the signal is not strong enough where you are living they will install one of their ariels on your roof for around €145 http://www.canarynet-hotspots.com/ Also if you are renting check and see if it is possible to actually get a phone line because not everywhere can get one.

How did I know it would be you Fifi [;)].

So how does the internet work without a phone line. Do they have cable in Fuerte?

I just checked yesterday about the apartment I'm interested in and they have a phone line and satellite dish cable from the previous tenants.

I suppose I would need to find out the cheapest way of having both a phone and internet.

Cheers, as always, Fifi [;)]

In my bungalow I have a little ariel on the roof and a wire that comes inside which I put into the computer (the cheap way of doing it) For an extra 100 euros I was offered wireless connectivity. You get a card with a password on it which you enter into your computer and when the time you have paid for expires you need to top up either online with Paypal or go out to one of the bars that sells their top up cards. I find it fairly reliable but the speed seems to drop in my area from 7 to 9. They are a really good company to deal with, any problems are answered on the spot over the phone so if you are not going with Telephonica they might be worth contacting.[:)]

Cheers Fifi.

Just found this Telefonica package, looks really reasonable to be fair.

What do you reckon?

This is not 'Telefonica' but an agency. I use them for my calls and they are cheaper than Telefonica and reliable.[:)]

Hi Scorpio, yes it boosts the signal. Canarynet installed it for me. They will check the signal for you.[:)]

Telefonica's deals change monthly, the best way is to phone them on 1004 and ask them what's going at the moment.
We pay around 55 euro a month for a decent speed and phoneline

Telefonica costs most people around 70 euros a month. They refuse to speak any English when things go wrong. But manage to find English speakers when they want to sell you something. The friends I know who started having telefonica, have now all moved to alternatives. I have done the same. I am currently using a vodafone dongle for 30 euros a month, some friends have gone to BT Spain, and too early to say if they are any good, their charges are cheaper than telefonica. But it's not really BT Spain, just some outfit using the name. They still have to use the Telefonica connection.

€55 per month? I can't see how www.telefonicainenglish.com/ can be right then. Something can't be right about that site and offer then. I'm confused now.

Sorry but your in Spain.....

And Carlo, I have used Telefonica for around 3 years, never really had mega issues with them, yes they are expensive, but only if you compare them to the UK etc
This time around my contract is 12 month and for 6 months at 30 euro and  now it's 59 euro for the remaining 6 months

After the 6 months bonus I was allowed to upgrade from 3mb to 6mb and I'll be honest, the connection is great for where I am.

Would I used a middleman? probably not but that's your decision

€42 for 12 months then goes up to €56 afterwards (€122 install). This was last March I get 8mb internet and that is with them having to run a line from a junction box as my complex has no phone system.

Cockney, is everything in this link above board then?

http://www.telefonicainenglish.com/

10 MB unlimited broadband
€49.00 Install
€26.90 for the first 12 months, €41.90 thereafter
Free wireless router

Seems like a no-brainer to me but maybe I'm missing something.

Think maybe the difference between the different Telefonica/Movistar prices is that some have included the line rental and others haven't. Also their offers seem to vary almost month to month.
We're comparing broadband options and would be interested in people's experiences either of Telefonica or other other providers.

Aah, see what you mean there. After reading the small print in the link I posted, I came across this:-

Q. Do I need a landline to have an Adsl broadband service and do I still have to pay for line rental?
A. Yes, to receive Adsl broadband you must have a connected, working land line. Telefonica Movistar line rental currently costs 13.97€ plus 2.52€ maintenance plus IVA tax per month.

So, add that to the 26.90€ they quoted, it would equate to 43.39€, plus IVA tax is added, although I was under the impression IVA didn't apply in the Canaries. Still, it is very misleading and isn't as good value as they are trying to make out, it would seem.

Think I will go with the advise of Brightspark and Rich000.

Thanks for everyone's advice, as always [;)]

We use canarynet when we are over. As Fifi says its not fast but you can send emails and view websites. We tried skype but too slow. I got a high gain adapter from ebay for about £12 and then bought an external airiel for about a tenner and set it permanently on the top of our house. The adapter does come with an arial but you have to hang it out of the windo and its a bit of a hassle. We are about a mile from a "hot spot" so it works ok

I switched from telefonica/movistar to ORANGE.
39.50€/month for 6Mb (not an offer so does not go up after a few months)
Same package as telefonica ie ADSL+phone line+928 numbers free+free calls to a designated orange mobile. They also throw in a free dongle for PAYG. (Slow but okay as back up if system ever fails)
Orange do not have a english speaking help line but then again 1004 on telefonica was always hit or miss and if it was an ADSL problem they passed you to a non-english speaking tech support anyway.

All the main isp´s have to rely on telefonica/movistar landlines but the exchange equipment does seem a little more reliable.

Recently all my area was off for a week and movistar said contractors had cut the cable.......funny my orange adsl was still functioning over that same cut cable!!!

I'm also going to invest in a S Video / Audio to Scart cable to connect the laptop to TV. Got to be worth £2.45.

Hi. What don't you try Direct-Telecom?  They are an english company based in Tenerife. I am with them years for my phone calls, a lot cheaper than Movistar/Telefonica. I will be moving my whole package with them next month(landline+internet+calls) as I am back here full time. Check their different packages on offer at: www.direct-telecom.es

Prices of Direct Telecom's regular service (around €50 p.m. inc line rental) look fairly similar to Movistar's post-offer prices. I imagine their customer service is somewhat better though. I had to navigate the following problems when getting my Movistar broadband set up:
- the Movistar shop in Corrie telling me I couldn't have the latest broadband offer as I was already renting a phone line - untrue
- Movistar restricting the service as the shop had decided it wasn't possible to get more than 6 Mb max on the island - again untrue
- Movistar sneaking a couple of services I never requested onto my bill

Speaking Spanish I was finally able to get these all sorted with the central phone service, but I don't trust them now and feel I have to watch them like a hawk. If you are going to use them, do it on-line and check your bills carefully. Definitely don't go the shop next to Rocasa - they are rude and lie to you.

Recently I switched from Movistar to Mas Movil via UKTV, the new card was 10 euro and I got 10 euro credit so it was free and I've kept my old number.

I would regularly put 10 euro on my phone without making any calls I'd be lucky to get a few days out of it. I still have the original 10 euro with Mas Movil and have not only made calls but international too.

Changing over wasn't easy, I needed the serial number of the card which is normally printed on it but not mine as it was older, I first thought I would ask at the Movistar shop but thinking they weren't the most helpful at the best of times how good would they be when you're about to dessert them.

So had a look online, mostly translated apparently it's the in thing for the shop to recommend phoning 1004 and when you do they tell you they can't give you that information. So looked on the Movistar forums and found a couple of techs telling people to give them their info and they would sort it out for them.

So I joined and send one girl a pm who sent me a message back saying sorry we can't give out that sort of info. So I replied with the link that showed her doing the opposite just the day before, she just replied with the same answer. Obviously these people were different than me, top tip don't apologise for your bad Spanish beforehand and let them know that your not.

So off to their office passport in hand and waited half an hour or so to be told they had somehow lost my details. Difficult to believe since only a year or two ago like everybody else I had to digitally sign for the card confirming all my personal details. So the only way to get the serial was to  borrow a smart phone and use a program to read it. That turned out to be difficult so I ended up buying an Android samsung for 125 euro from one of the Indian shops, which was cheap and it's a great phone. So finally back to UKTV and hand in my number and job done.

Movistar had picked up on the fact that I bought a new phone and after being with them for ten years now offered me the exact same model I'd just bought, also cheaper calls blah blah blah all by text as I wouldn't answer their sales dept.

Why wouldn't I answer because I knew they would be speaking in English and yes this is Spain and I've no right to complain and I'm not but it irkes me that a company can see good business sense in securing a customer when they're about to lose one but not for the previous ten years.

If I had a bicycle shop in Soho there's a good chance I would fare better if at least one of the staff spoke Chinese, rightly of wrongly that's good business sense. Especially in my case I could be a casual visitor who can't be expected to remember any Spanish I'd picked up from last visit without constantly practicing it since, it is a tourist island. It's like the cinema once showing films in the original language once a week but it never worked, why? Because they advertised them in Spanish! This a cinema underneath several hotels so most of the nearest possible clientele were more likely to speak English than not.

Anyway they then started harassing me phoning twice every five minutes from 8 in the morning till 8 at night but I had downloaded a phone blocker which auto hung up on them, though I'd set it to answer first just for fun. All I got was a bleep to let me know they were still at it, which I could've turned off. I knew it was a machine calling but obviously they would still have to monitor it in case I decided to answer which I did on a few occasions by setting the phone down but even then no-one spoke, nor did I. Obviously they were well used to this.

After hundreds of missed calls and texts with only the occasional break they only give up when I was switched over to Mas Movil after 5 days or so, now I wouldn't give them the time of day.

I do realise it might sound hypocritical by not being fluent in Spanish either but the Spanish deal mostly with Canal + and their free installations so with few exceptions I deal with the English speaking community and the odd German to lighten your day. :)

As far as my moral stance I'll use a disclaimer of ignorance in the terms and conditions of being a man...

I have 10mb ADSL and telefonica phone line, I get charged a compbined amount of 29.39euros a month....  Why so many differenct price plans...

I called telefonica yesterday and got put through to their english speaking department.  A pakistan voice talked back to me in perfect english, he even connected me to the technical department via a conference call so he could translate for me.  The service is improving, but not before time... I guess with all the competition around they really have no choice but to improve their service for all nationalities....

Just a thought... is the English department a call centre in Pakistan?  As everytime i have put through lately its a pakistan voice that deals with me?

Vodafone charge vat on top for land line adsl and dongals they have decided to charge vat on bills a couple of months so just check before you sign up. sangria yes they have a good deal at present make sure its a 12 month contract because after 12 months the price jumps quite a sum you are free then to change to a new supplier and of course you will already have a land line so dead easy to defect then to a new supplier. It could well be that the tax is included in the deal for 12 months my bill shot up from 39 euro a month to 58 after 12 months.   brightspark i get 8.50mb to 9.50 mb on vodafone if you take a mobile with them your deal is even cheaper and they promise the charge will never increase.

We've gone with the Europa package and are pretty happy with it. Just a shame that you can't record the TV programmes.
We did have a laugh with getting our phone line installed though! Engineer called on mobile to say he couldn't find our apartment. We mentioned Mercadona in Corralejo in our directions and he said he still couldn't find us - could we meet him in Mercadona car park and show us? No problem - waited in car park for 20 mins, no sign of him. Another call - he was in white van in car park, where were we? Well, we couldn't see any white vans. Transpired he was in some town in mainland Spain!! [8)]  [8D]
I thought 'white van man' was a British thing! [:D]

It took about a month in all as they couldn't send the router until the phone line was in and they had the phone number. If they (telefonica) had got the right address to start with it would probably have taken 2 - 3 weeks which I don't think is bad. Our contact was English speaking throughout so no language problems for arranging it.

I signed up with Telefonica on 19th April and had my installation today, everything went very smoothly and the installation engineer even spoke some English which was a bonus , the whole installation only took about 45mins .
Telefonica are doing a promotion just now whereas there is no installation charge and also a free wifi router , total cost for ADSL and line rental is €39/month , this also includes 500 minutes of free calls .

Hi Carlo,

We have telefonica landline, really fast broadband (unlimited) and imagenio tv (which has about 80 tv channels), total cost is 53 euros per month, the landline includes all calls to other spanish landlines and 500mins per month to mobiles, 50 mins at weekends to mobiles, its a very good deal but as mentioned by others it does change all the time.

We got free installation and a free phone so overall very good, the deal we got lasts for a year and after that we need to ring them to re-negotiate.  The telefonica shop by the bus station are quite helpful and will run through all the options with you.  Installation was very quick (2 days after we ordered).  It is worth negotiating with the for sure.

Hope this helps.

Lisa Europa Networks i am trying your three day free trial on your tv it works very well no cliches or buffering i would say you should do well selling your package on the rock.i plugged into the television from spare laptop very good.[:)]

ps Most TVs have an S-Video connector, so you need an S-Video to S-Video cable. The cable is cheap.
Please note that there are 2 types of S-Video cables: 4-pin and 7-pin. Make sure to use the right one.

It's between

Telefonica

Europa Networks

Direct-Telecom

So Which of the 3 is best for a stable connection?

I don't have anything other than my own experience to go on but we moved to Corralejo on Mon 14th and went into town the next day to fix up Telefonica landline + ADSL. Had to buy a 15€ mobile phone so installer could ring for appointment, but I'm sure a pay-as-you-go phgone will be useful even when we get our smartphone contracts sorted.

Guy phoned about 6 hours after our visit and we had phone and 10 thingy ADSL installed (sorry, can't remember the jargon but it's pretty fast) an hour later. Saleswoman and fitter both spoke a bit of English, but it really needed a 2-way effort. Had read dire things about Telefonica and we could still get nasty surprises, but so far so good. Line rental, ADSL and some free calls will set us back about 60€ a month - not cheap but I work on the web so ADSL is important to us. We haven't gone for their TV package yet, but it looks good if you want international rather than UK-only.

Just read the Europa Network stuff and been on their website, at first glance, it all seems pretty reasonable. Just wondering what the 'total' cost for the monthly service is though. I know they have various 'packages' but the tarrifs are a bit misleading as they don't give you the total of what you will be paying per month. From what I can gather, it seems that whatever price is quoted, you need to add 13.95€ for line rental too.

So, if I'm correct, the monthly breakdown for 10MB would be:-

10MB - 35.95€
Line rental - 13.95€
Plus this extra bit of small print - Just tell us where you call, from the UK to Thailand to South America, we will provide the lowest rates for you to call these destinations! Choose ANY country in Western Europe and we will give you calls to this destination at just 1 cent/min forever *(subject to 5€ per month.)

That makes a monthly total of 54.90€ for 10MB and the lowest monthly total being 43.90€ for 1MB, plus the added cost of phone calls, if I'm correct.

Anyone who's got the service able to confirm if I'm right regarding the monthly price totals.

Tarrifs on this page - http://www.europa-network.com/internet/

We have Europa and pay 29.95 for ADSL 3 MB which for us is enough to use our sling box and their free T.V.We rent the line from Telefonica for 14.95.We also have 140 minutes of free calls a month from Europa.

Thanks for the reply, Sangria.

So, that's a monthly total of 44.90€ (not including calls) for 3MB.

Hmmm, just spent the last hour or more Googling for the best internet/landline package deals and tarrifs. The best I've seen is this one - http://www.movistar.es/empresas/banda-ancha/banda-ancha-fijo/ver-todos-los-adsl/ficha/aut-movistar-adsl-hasta-10mb

10MB - 19.90€ Per month
Line Rental - 13.97€ Per month
Total - 33.87€

Fixed price for 12 months for none Movistar mobile users and fixed indefinitely for Movistar mobile users. For the none Movistar mobile users the price increases after the initial 12 month period by 10€. Even with the increase after 12 months, I still can't find anything cheaper. I know it doesn't come with the TV but I'm not really too bothered about the TV to be honest. Think I'm going to have to go with this one.

Thanks again.

Yeah, it does seem like a good service but it's all about the small-print though, really. Apparently, you have to pay €49.95 for the privilage of cancelling -  http://www.europa-network.com/tariffs/

TalkTalk, in the UK, have that 'not tied to a contract' thing, however, when I left the UK 8 weeks ago, they tried to charge me £250 for the privilage of leaving them! Suffice to say, I cancelled my Direct Debit with them immediately. Not exactly how it seemed when I first went with them, however, apparently it was all there in the small-print.

It may sound like I'm knocking Europa Network but I'm not. I'm just trying to work out which is the best ISP to go with. Like I say, it does, at first glance, seem really reasonable and I'm sure it suits some people perfectly. I may still even go with them myself, it's all just a bit of a minefield really, trying to ascertain which company is actually offering the best deal, once all the add-ons and small-print have been taken into account.

Movie star are the best bet by far for the first twelve months doing a good quick connection and good offers at least you have your line they try to rip you off second year but then its easy to switch to a new supplier.

Post by: emmi on May 28, 2012, 10:43:52 AM
Movistar is a very good connection, I am happy with it.  If you have a contract with them, then to prevent "rip-off", just two weeks before contract expires you go and see what new promotions they have and ask to change to one of your choice when the old one expires. However, if you don't do this, then you will pay a much higher monthly fee.

It was really easy Ben. If I remember rightly, they came about 2 or 3 days after us going into the shop. Installation took about 40 mins, I'd say. Been really happy with it, no complaints at all. I've done an internet 'speed test' and compared with the archived results, I'm getting pretty much the same speed as back in the UK.

I've heard that before about Telefonica taking a while with the Europa installations mate. Maybe the reason why the Movistar installations are quicker is because Movistar is a Telefonica brand (essentially the same company).

They have different offers on all the time mate, so it's best to keep checking. Some of their better deals are for existing Movistar customers (Movistar mobile). I wasn't an existing Movistar customer but the deal we got is still good. The service has been as good as anything (Telewest / blueyonder/ Virgin / talktalk / Sky) I've had before in the UK. Yes, our landline installation was free.

Here's some of the deals on offer at the moment but I would suggest going into a Movistar shop to speak to someone who'll be able to explain all the benefits of each deal and the inevitable small print.

Telefonica IS Movistar!!! On the other hand the confusingly-named TelefonicaInEnglish IS NOT Telefonica, NEITHER IS IT Movistar. TelefonicaInEnglish is simply an agency that is licensed to use the lines which Telefonica/Movistar install.

Whoever you go to to try to cut costs and get everything in English (TelefonicaInEnglish, BT, Orange, the Europe one...) can't do anything until Movistar provide the line. Guess what? People talk of waiting weeks for their line because Movistar lose the paperwork, call round when they know damn well you're out, come with the wrong bits, etc, etc. It's not nice, but it happens.

I signed with Movistar themselves for 10mb broadband with wi-fi, plus phone at about 10 am one morning. Before the end of the day I was surfing away and recording a good 8mb! True, only one of the women in the Correlejo office near Correos spoke English but we managed. Once when I went in with a specific query, she told me I'd have to ring the service number. After listening to the long recorded message and understanding precisely zero, I said "English" clearly into the phone. Magic! The recorded voice switched to English and then I was speaking to someone who really spoke English quite well. It was a long drawnout process because we had to have a three-way conversation, with her talking to a technician in Spanish then instructing me in English. But she was 100% patient and genuinely wanted to be helpful.

I'm sure I'll have some runins with them. But at least it will be with the people who caused the problem and so can fix it, not someone who can so easily say "it's not our fault, it's a problem with the line" without even investigating.

Sheila

Not blaming Europa for the 6 week wait but it's been too long now.
Title: Re: Telefonica phone and internet

I switched to orange last year....same speed as telefonica/movistar but at the time was cheaper. They just phoned me and said because my year contract was up then if I committed to renew for another year then they would give me 20% discount on all my internet charges. So now definately a better deal than telefonica/movistar.

Does pay to play one against the other as there is a definate price war on...even if you can only get the same price then you may get a few incentives or better speed. Helps if you speak spanish so can deal direct rather than through a shop/agent as the offers do seem to be better.

Also for info...certain parts of caleta can get 20 meg+ vdsl and having spoken to the telefonica tech it is possible that fuerte may have fibre and 30 meg connections in the next 2 years........maybe

They use a smaller socket over much of Europe, RJ11 I think.
You should get a filter with your router which plugs into the telephone socket and has 2 outlets, one for the modem/router and one for the telephone itself.  :D

Phone Telefonica and get them to sort it out.  They have done for me in the past.   They will probably test the line first.  You might have a dodgy router.

If they do it like they do in the UK, your modem will go through a 'training period' of around 10 days while the system tries to find a balance between maximum speed and stability.
Leave your modem on and do not keep resetting it and see what happens over the next few days.
You can do occasional speed tests at www.speedtest.net (http://www.speedtest.net)
Make a note of your download speed a couple of times a day, particularly early evening and see how it goes.
What sort of speeds are you getting?
If your line to the apartment is the old internal system wiring, that may not be the best quality or could be a bit dodgy by virtue of age.

If you are getting so many drop outs then there is a problem with the line.

Is it a USB or Ethernet connection to your PC. If it is USB then get it connected via Ethernet cable instead.  :)

I use an Ethernet cable but it's not my PC dropping connection, it's the actual router to the internet. I'm pretty sure it's a line fault, as it was really playing up for about 4 hours then i moved the telephone cable a bit as there was static on the line and it's been fine for a while.

I'll leave it for a few days just to make sure and see how it goes, don't want to call out Movistar/Telefonica and for it to be fine and be slapped with a bill.

Definately a problem with the line, worked fine last night and then the phone cable got moved, and have just spent 2 hours trying to get in the right position for it to work.

Sorry for all these questions but, if i get Telefonica to send an engineer out and the they don't find a problem what is the cost?

Also the issue is the actual socket i think, the splitter is pretty lose and can be wriggled with ease, would they be able to fix this or would they say it's nothing to do with them and charge me anyway.

Not done anything with Spanish sockets as yet so this bit is guesswork.
Can you unscrew the socket from the wall? CAREFULLY!!
If you can and gently ease it away so you can see the wires, 2 or 3 I would think, are they screwed in or pushed into a slot?

I'm pretty sure I can take the socket off, there are no screws and the engineers took it off when they first activated the line, not sure what I would do after that though.

Have a look if you can and if possible I would definately get a new socket.

Yeah I may have to do that, but would fixing that explain the low sync speeds I'm getting? I can understand the loss of connection with it being lose but I always thought such low sync speeds was to do with a faulty line?

You need to look in your stats and see what the Line Attenuation and Noise Margins are for both Download and Upload.

ADSL Link

Downstream

Upstream

Connection Speed

6947 kbps

796 kbps

Line Attenuation

42.0 dB

26.0 dB

Noise Margin

5.9 dB

11.7 dB

For example, these are mine and were to be found in 'Maintenance' ,  'Show Statistics'  in the modem.

I am a couple of miles from the exchange.

I believe NH is fed from 2 different exchanges but I'm not sure which feeds where.

Brightspark knows I think.   BARRY!!!!! are you there?   :D

There we go

                           Downstream    Upstream
Rate(Kbps)              2539               317

SNR Margin(dB)      6.0                   24.9
Attenuation(dB)      36.8              63.0

The SNR Margin has been changing all day, between 6 and 10.

That's probably the best they have been all day, usually it was between 1-2 and only connecting for 5 minutes at a time.

Not sure which exchange I'm connected too, no idea how to find out.

I'm hoping it is a line fault, i was hoping for more around 5mb and a stable connection.

Do you know what your line speed is rated at, 3, 6 or 10 meg?

If it was 10 meg with your downstrean figures you should be getting 5 or 6 meg.
The upstream figures seem high though.

If the SNR stays above 6 it should not be dropping out.

I would certainly try a new socket and see what you get then.

It's 10 meg, and yeah i assumed i would get around 5 meg which I would be fine with.

Not sure about trying a new socket though, I have no idea how to change it or where I would get 1 from.

In the UK, BT or whoever, are responsible for the line up to, and including the master socket, first one in from the incoming line. You could check if that is also the case over there.

Hmm so I would need to get Telefonica to replace it then I guess.

I am not clued up at all about anything Spanish, hence all the questions.

Every day is a school day, as they say.  :D

If your still having problems in another 6 weeks or so, I'll come and have a look.  ;D

Haha yeah I guess it is.

Will give them a call in the morning see what they say.

If it's anything like the build up to getting the internet connected then I'll probably still be trying in 6 weeks lol.

Decided not to call them yet, just in case, yesterday it was horribly poor and today I've only had to restart the router once, so hopefully it carries on like this.

I'm really confused now, from Friday - Monday the internet was perfect, no disconnects or anything, now though it's dropping every few minutes again...

Best I got was about 2.9, would of liked more but it's enough to play online games with.

It's actually working ok again now, has been up for the past 6 and a half hours. Maybe it was a problem with Telefonica and not my line, shame I have no way of finding out, guess I'll wait and see if it continues then I'll have to give them a call.

sorry to hijack the thread but i was due to have an ADSL line put in today on the Golf but the engineer from Telefonica said that the line from them is fine but the cabling inside the house is shot and that is my responsibility to have that upgraded and sorted before they can activate the line.
I havent got a clue how thats supposed to be done and what needs doing, and the engineer didnt offer any advice either, does anyone have any idea if there is any companies or individual's that can upgrade the telephone  wiring so that Telefonica can activate the line?
Thanks

Not too sure about this myself, but I would think an Electrician should be able to do this, but no idea of the cost or anyone who can do this myself sorry.

Maybe someone else will know.

Do you have more than one socket in your house?
I would have thought that Telefonica were responsible for the cable into the house up to the first socket (Master)
If you have more than one socket, did you want to plug your modem into one other than the first one in from outside?

I think I know someone who may be able to help and have just mailed him. Will let you know.  :)

Thanks guys.
Telefonica are saying that the wiring from the house is my responsibility not theirs and they say about 50 meters of it so im guessing that is the distance to the exchange from the house. how the hell they expect the standard householder to be able to cable underground to there junction is beyond me.  :o
advice still gratefully received  :)

They look after the main outside box and the one in your home which is their property same as the UK.

You could try BT Spain which have their own engineer who might be able to help but it's hard to see how the cables could be shot in a modern house.

You could try Steve on 691492344

Ben, how are you doing with your connection now?
Title: Re: Telefonica phone and internet
Post by: ben90125 on September 23, 2012, 12:50:07 PM
It's fairly stable now, sometimes it decides to drop the connection but for the most part it's stable, I did notice that after being up for about 24 hours it's more likely to drop so I just restart it every morning.

Still only syncing at 3MB max though.

It's a shame you've had such a bad time with yours Ben. I've not had a single issue in the 5 months I've had mine, don't think it's ever gone off once. It sounds like it must be some sort of 'physical' fault mate (ie cables, sockets, router etc). Hope you get it sorted as I can imagine how frustrating it must be.
