No there isn't but even if you have signed up with Telephonica you can still change over to Europa we would contact & deal with Telephonica for you, thanks.

Hi, The website looks good and could be a choice for us. I'll wait to see what other people recommend us first though.

I myself have had the system installed since January. Never had a problem with my internet in fact I have a stronger internet connection now, my bills are cheaper plus I have British television. Thanks, Lisa.

Everyone at Europa Networks speaks English, which eliminates all frustrations!!!  Thanks, Lisa.

Thanks for all those responses, if there aren't phone lines set up in the area then what can i do about it, as i assumes its rather expensive to get them actually set up.

(I mean the actual cables not standard phone line)

Hi Carlo,

We have telefonica landline, really fast broadband (unlimited) and imagenio tv (which has about 80 tv channels), total cost is 53 euros per month, the landline includes all calls to other spanish landlines and 500mins per month to mobiles, 50 mins at weekends to mobiles, its a very good deal but as mentioned by others it does change all the time.

We got free installation and a free phone so overall very good, the deal we got lasts for a year and after that we need to ring them to re-negotiate.  The telefonica shop by the bus station are quite helpful and will run through all the options with you.  Installation was very quick (2 days after we ordered).  It is worth negotiating with the for sure.

Hope this helps.

benny90125

Honestly those deals aren't that great, at least having a low allowance wouldn't work for me :P

Lisa Europa Networks i am trying your three day free trial on your tv it works very well no cliches or buffering i would say you should do well selling your package on the rock.i plugged into the television from spare laptop very good.[:)]

ps Most TVs have an S-Video connector, so you need an S-Video to S-Video cable. The cable is cheap.
Please note that there are 2 types of S-Video cables: 4-pin and 7-pin. Make sure to use the right one.

Getting close to my moving date, still unsure which to go with.

It's between

Telefonica

Europa Networks

Direct-Telecom

So Which of the 3 is best for a stable connection?

I don't have anything other than my own experience to go on but we moved to Corralejo on Mon 14th and went into town the next day to fix up Telefonica landline + ADSL. Had to buy a 15€ mobile phone so installer could ring for appointment, but I'm sure a pay-as-you-go phgone will be useful even when we get our smartphone contracts sorted.

Guy phoned about 6 hours after our visit and we had phone and 10 thingy ADSL installed (sorry, can't remember the jargon but it's pretty fast) an hour later. Saleswoman and fitter both spoke a bit of English, but it really needed a 2-way effort. Had read dire things about Telefonica and we could still get nasty surprises, but so far so good. Line rental, ADSL and some free calls will set us back about 60€ a month - not cheap but I work on the web so ADSL is important to us. We haven't gone for their TV package yet, but it looks good if you want international rather than UK-only.

Thanks for that, good to hear you got it up and running so quickly.

Guess I'll need to just pick 1 at random as there isn't really any bad reviews here :P

Just read the Europa Network stuff and been on their website, at first glance, it all seems pretty reasonable. Just wondering what the 'total' cost for the monthly service is though. I know they have various 'packages' but the tarrifs are a bit misleading as they don't give you the total of what you will be paying per month. From what I can gather, it seems that whatever price is quoted, you need to add 13.95€ for line rental too.

So, if I'm correct, the monthly breakdown for 10MB would be:-

10MB - 35.95€
Line rental - 13.95€
Plus this extra bit of small print - Just tell us where you call, from the UK to Thailand to South America, we will provide the lowest rates for you to call these destinations! Choose ANY country in Western Europe and we will give you calls to this destination at just 1 cent/min forever *(subject to 5€ per month.)

That makes a monthly total of 54.90€ for 10MB and the lowest monthly total being 43.90€ for 1MB, plus the added cost of phone calls, if I'm correct.

Anyone who's got the service able to confirm if I'm right regarding the monthly price totals.

Tarrifs on this page - http://www.europa-network.com/internet/

sangria

We have Europa and pay 29.95 for ADSL 3 MB which for us is enough to use our sling box and their free T.V.We rent the line from Telefonica for 14.95.We also have 140 minutes of free calls a month from Europa.

Thanks for the reply, Sangria.

So, that's a monthly total of 44.90€ (not including calls) for 3MB.

Hmmm, just spent the last hour or more Googling for the best internet/landline package deals and tarrifs. The best I've seen is this one - http://www.movistar.es/empresas/banda-ancha/banda-ancha-fijo/ver-todos-los-adsl/ficha/aut-movistar-adsl-hasta-10mb

10MB - 19.90€ Per month
Line Rental - 13.97€ Per month
Total - 33.87€

Fixed price for 12 months for none Movistar mobile users and fixed indefinitely for Movistar mobile users. For the none Movistar mobile users the price increases after the initial 12 month period by 10€. Even with the increase after 12 months, I still can't find anything cheaper. I know it doesn't come with the TV but I'm not really too bothered about the TV to be honest. Think I'm going to have to go with this one.

Thanks again.

Yeah, it does seem like a good service but it's all about the small-print though, really. Apparently, you have to pay €49.95 for the privilage of cancelling -  http://www.europa-network.com/tariffs/

TalkTalk, in the UK, have that 'not tied to a contract' thing, however, when I left the UK 8 weeks ago, they tried to charge me £250 for the privilage of leaving them! Suffice to say, I cancelled my Direct Debit with them immediately. Not exactly how it seemed when I first went with them, however, apparently it was all there in the small-print.

It may sound like I'm knocking Europa Network but I'm not. I'm just trying to work out which is the best ISP to go with. Like I say, it does, at first glance, seem really reasonable and I'm sure it suits some people perfectly. I may still even go with them myself, it's all just a bit of a minefield really, trying to ascertain which company is actually offering the best deal, once all the add-ons and small-print have been taken into account.

Movie star are the best bet by far for the first twelve months doing a good quick connection and good offers at least you have your line they try to rip you off second year but then its easy to switch to a new supplier.

emmi

Movistar is a very good connection, I am happy with it.  If you have a contract with them, then to prevent "rip-off", just two weeks before contract expires you go and see what new promotions they have and ask to change to one of your choice when the old one expires. However, if you don't do this, then you will pay a much higher monthly fee.

Carlo

Cheers Potash and Emmi, I'm going to enquire at the Movistar shop today in El Campinario and see what they can offer us.

Carlo

Movistar 10MB ADSL and landline all booked today, thank Christ all that's done and dusted. Been using Cheapnet up until now, it's served a purpose but it will be nice to have a half-decent internet speed again.

ben90125

how long did that take to get setup Carlo?

It was really easy Ben. If I remember rightly, they came about 2 or 3 days after us going into the shop. Installation took about 40 mins, I'd say. Been really happy with it, no complaints at all. I've done an internet 'speed test' and compared with the archived results, I'm getting pretty much the same speed as back in the UK.

I've heard that before about Telefonica taking a while with the Europa installations mate. Maybe the reason why the Movistar installations are quicker is because Movistar is a Telefonica brand (essentially the same company).

They have different offers on all the time mate, so it's best to keep checking. Some of their better deals are for existing Movistar customers (Movistar mobile). I wasn't an existing Movistar customer but the deal we got is still good. The service has been as good as anything (Telewest / blueyonder/ Virgin / talktalk / Sky) I've had before in the UK. Yes, our landline installation was free.

Here's some of the deals on offer at the moment but I would suggest going into a Movistar shop to speak to someone who'll be able to explain all the benefits of each deal and the inevitable small print.
