Feel sorry for your other half, sounds like he has a lot to put up with, a lot of stress.
I'd love to meet the poor guy and give him a medal or something.
Getta grip you lot..seven replies and nothing about politics/immigrants/voting ........gonna complain to admin.....just not British is it ????????
It's not a repeat of that old one from about 7 years ago is it?
Well it's entitled 'A place in the sun 2014'
Today's house hunters Emma Halley and Daniel Greenfield want to find out what their £73,000 budget can buy them on the Canary Island of Fuerteventura. Jasmine Harman shows them a selection of what's on the market.
Apparently it's about bulgarians getting free social housing in all those empty ones up the mountain....
I think I've seen three different programs of this type set on Fuerteventura. It was from the second one I learned just how contrived the program was. The subjects rejected a new apartment with a view over the beaches south of El Cotillo on the grounds that they'd prefer to be in Corralejo, to be closer to surfing beaches.....
They had one on a complex near Duquesa in Andalucia recently, despite the locals being well aware of all sorts of problems with the developer and local authority etc..It was cheap because no one would touch it with a bargepole..Still its telly innit and looks good...job done ???
I think some just go for the free holiday....they have no intention of buying a property ::)
also there is one on more 4 at 17.45..this could be a repeat
Laura Hamilton looks for a holiday home for Fuerteventura-fanatics Nicholas and Pauline Patch. They've been holidaying here for a decade and have decided that now's the time to buy a second home for £125,000.
if anybody is interested
This is what we have :) :) :) :) :) :)
14:10 A Place in the Sun: Winter Sun
Series 2. Episode 7/20: Northern Granada Laura Hamilton helps two men who have been friends since childhood search for a party house in northern Granada, Spain, with their joint budget of £27,000.

Get yourself a VCR so you can record it and watch later. Youi can get one for almost nothing nowadays.
"A Place In The Sun" told LIES to 1000's of people. They show places in the height of SUMMER when everywhere is busy, sunny and warm.
Granada in the winter :o Don't make me laugh. Iv'e been there, its high up, it snows in winter. Forget it.
From October to February, from Valencia down to about Torrevieja, it rains and rains and it's freezing at night. Not to mention the hoards of Romanians an Russians.

So this is what it feels like to be back in 1997 :D
In my tv guide it also says Granada..I can't see Fuerteventura there..do I need to go to specavers? Which guide are you looking in Dee?

I will record it on my sky box (high tech Mancunian) :P
I find that most repeat series are shown a complete random. What's on screen may or may not be what's in Radio Times, other mags, daily papers or even the i button.
We watch Homes Under The Hammer and have the same issues.
Easiest answer is to set PVR for series repeat on C4 E4 More4 +4 47 What4 and then scan them to see what you got.

The Sky guide says the programme's on daily:
Tuesday- Granada
Wednesday - Fuerteventura
Thursday - Costa Blanca
Friday - Costa Blanca
next Monday - Algarve
I've been watching the series. Some of them are old stuff but some were made last Autumn - look for the credits at the end of the programmes.
It's the same old thing; the idea seems to be to get the whole British population whipped up into a frenzy of mass emigration, mainly to Spain.
They've stopped telling people how much they can make from renting out their acquisitions unless it's definitely on a touristic development with proper management handling everything, including the bookings. They seem to be pushing the minimum long-term let more, 3 months I think.
They even filmed one in the rain, too.
You can log-on to their up to date site and get the low-down on everything to do with buying and living in Spain. It's a 15 page down-loadable document.

I made the mistake of buying a blackberry before christmas and apparently not even 20/20 vision can save you from these things, handy while I'm out and about though.
Anyway what you doing on here this time of the day? Get back in the kitchen and go wash some dishes or something.
i thought blackberries only lasted till september, then the guzgogs come out !

I am led to believe Martin Bliss ( Bliss Properties ) was one of the agents showing property in the new series... I'm sure he would know when it is to be screened
5 mins into the show and they've already given misleading info on the short term letting situation.
" just get a licence "
I'm surprised the estate agent didn't choke on her words.
I told you they tell LIES. This show should be taken off the air. What year was it.
I imagine it's 2013 as Justine Harman has a bun in the oven.
September 2013 according to closing credits.
Nice that he thought it was ok to let his dog roam and cra p all over El Cotillo :o
Watched the programme, stayed at the first apartment block on the edge of El Cotillo, and the accommodation that boasted a shared balcony, wouldn't buy either!
CG
Yeah I noticed that Hev, just going to let it roam unsupervised. Sure they'll be popular ::)
She's just going to work as a Waitress. WHERE :o There's no work.
The guy sounds like he has more sense than the presenter. Not impressed with the Re-Posession price, quite right, it's a joke. Half the price in Horizonte.
So, they interview a guy who's been here 2 years ;D ;D It's getting funnier.
Don't they know that "Compact" is real estate talk for "Minute" :'(
The last apartment is still showing as For Sale on the Bliss Properties website with a price of €79k. I would have thought it would have been removed by now if they were actually buying it, the programme being recorded back in September.
They had no intention of buying, never been to Fuerteventura before. Not sure how he intended to make a living, they just wanted a free holiday.
anyone notice the female property agent at the beginning come clean about needing a holiday let license but sneakily fail to let it out of the bag that they won't actually give you one. Made me laugh that one .

She seemed to be grimacing , probably due to her crossing her fingers so tightly , after not telling the whole truth.
Saw it too; 2.10pm channel 4. :o
Agree with most of the above, especially - getting jobs (what jobs???) & walking dogs, no mention of the law -
" dogs must be kept on a lead" & I don't think you are allowed to let dogs roam on the beaches either, are you?

I seem to think that the owner has several 'holiday rental' properties there, all residential, so I'd unload them too, wouldn't you?
It's lashing it down here so nice to see the island on any Telly program.
Available on 4OD which is how I watched it (working when the program was aired this afternoon)
I didn`t like it ::)..the man was a right `ole moaner...and who would buy a place when they had never visited the island before?? ::) ::) Stupid >:(
I don't think that he could have been born in Essex Dee, must have been an import.

Very Childish. Get back to Dross.
Well we skyplussed this and watched it today. Sorry but I thought they were a miserable pair of gits who I'd hate if they lived on our beloved island. He just twisted about everything and basically contradicted himself on each property. How on earth can someone not like Corralejo for goodness sake.
As for comments they made that's already been noticed -
Just let the dog out and roam around????
I'll just get a job as a waitress??????
That property was to big/had to much space????
That property was too small????
Don't like white wash walls????
That's a different kind of white wash wall????
Haway man place in the sun, do some research on the people who are wanting to buy somewhere, someone out there will actually be wanting to buy a property in Fuerte and you're p***ing around with 2 prats who've never been to the island :o
They should of just got him a boat and plonked him in the Atlantic...and hopefully he would of floated away ::)
Apart from him being a bit of a knob,(she was cute tho !)
We thought the programme over all was a good advertisement
for Cotillo and Corallejo, Most people watching should have seen
Fuerte in a positive light.
TV producers will always choose the least ordinary participants for this type of programme as they think this will get more people talking about their show and so generate interest in it. If they appear to be idiots then so much the better, viewers will enjoy feeling superior to them. The purpose of the programme isn't to entertain or educate viewers, or to help couples find a property. Its purpose is to deliver the maximum audience for the advertisers.
Have watched previous series of this show, it is astonishing the number of people that decide to "go live" in places that they've never visited. Most with unrealistic expectations.
It was good however that the program tried to show several different areas of the island, even with the inflated Horizonte price :)

Your turn not to bite Graham ;D ;D
Jon - I will treat it with the contempt that it deserves.... and rise above it like a true Northerner
It will keep his mind off the football ;D
Football ?, is that the very unfamiliar game they try to practice on one side of the river in Manchester ? ;)
Having been to the South of the island for all of 12 years, after sampling the North of the island around villaverde/Oliva, I would struggle to decide where to buy a home, should I ever win the lottery.
They are making even more programmes !! This is one episode we will watch, for obvious reasons ;D ;D
Then we'll see just how distorted and contrived the programme really is.

Dan and Emma are now happily in the El Cotillo Apartment that we viewed with them on the show, having eventually taken ownership last week! Martin, Bliss Properties
My son saw Dan and Emma in El Cotillo a couple of weeks ago. He spoke to them as he recognised them from the programme.
