Gardening Advice

I am thinking of getting raised flower beds with an irrigation system but don`t know what plants would survive without dead heading, pruning etc since we`re not here year round.
Any suggestions?

Use only traditional Canarian plants.  Growing flowers is difficult - I gave up years ago.  Canarian plants survive with very little water and maintenance, and I've got a big garden full of them.
