The UK Government Foreign and Commonwealth Office is holding a series of meetings across the larger Canary Islands to discuss the situation of UK expats and how they will be affected living in the Canary Islands by UK leaving the European Union in March 2019. Tim Hemmings is Deputy Head of Mission at the British Embassy in Madrid and wants to give the UK Government perspective about how life will change for expats after Brexit. However, this is also an opportunity for UK expat residents living in the Canary Islands to ask this representative of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office any questions that might be making them anxious about these changes.

The British Consulate has contacted News From The Canary Islands to advertise this series of meetings with Tim Hemmings, Deputy Head of Mission to Spain and based at the British Embassy in Madrid, which will be followed by opportunities to ask any questions.

The dates, times and locations for these meetings are given below, and UK expats do not need to register for these meetings â€" just arrive in good time.

Tuesday 17th October @ 18.30hrs
Elba Castillo San Jorge & Antigua Suite Hotel
Ave. José Franchy Roca, s/n
Castillo, Caleta de Fuste, 35610

If Teresa May doesn't know what is going to happen then the British Embassy won't know either. ::) It's still too early for a meeting :(

Well I certainly am not, they are not in a position to tell us anything they have not already.

Completely useless excercise. How can they tell you antything if the UK Government don't even know.
These so-called experts with jobs with the Cabildo ( I could name names) are just making it look as though they're doing something for their salaries, when they know nowt.

It'll be a 99% certainty that if you are legal here, with Residencia and a NIE number, nothing will change. Don't listen to scare-mongers who who pretend to know what's going on.

I thought the rights of EU and UK citizens abroad has already been agreed . Nothing will change. The issues holding it up are trade and the EU's ridiculous monetary demands.

I found the meeting extremely helpful, certainly no scare mongering as Woe put it, maybe you should have attended!!! I feel a lot less stressed about several things which HAVE been agreed on but still a lot more to be agreed on.

Thanks to Debbie Edgington for organising it for us.

Cheers Freda
