I have owned property in Fuerteventura since 2011 and have always used car hire when on the island.
Any information regarding the costs of running a car would be helpful. Eg.. Insurance costs, m.o.t., costs of any potential repair bills compared to the UK etc..
Any information regarding where to buy from and any pointers to avoid any pitfalls would be great.

Firstly second hand cars are more expensive here than in The UK, I am reliably informed that they are cheaper on Grand Canaria, we bought ours from About cars here on The Island, came with a two year MOT {ITV } and a two year warranty.
Insurance for a 1600 CC astra is circa â,¬325 but that includes Europe wide road side assistance, tax is â,¬50 a full service â,¬80 plus any non standard service parts eg I had a wiper blade replaced last time cost â,¬10, a month or so back I needed a rear bulb replacing, was gong to do it myself, but ended up taking it to the garage cost â,¬1, a new battery can cost anything from â,¬55 to â,¬90 depending on what quality you go for. you will be aware petrol here is a lot cheaper than the UK
