The capacity of reaction and the degree of coordination between emergency centers will be evaluated in the development of search and rescue operations

About 300 people will participate in the Canasar / Morsa exercise 2017 for a ground and sea air accident simulation to be held in Fuerteventura between 7 and 8 June, as revealed at the press conference held today, Wednesday, May 24, during the presentation of this exercise, which was attended by the President of the Cabildo, Marcial Morales, the Government Delegate in the Canary Islands, Mercedes Roldós, the General Director of Security and Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands, Nazaret Díaz Santos, the Mayor of Puerto del Rosario, Nicolás Gutiérrez, General Second Chief of the Canary Islands Air Command, Julián Roldán Martínez, the Chief Commander of the Rescue Coordinating Center, Eduardo Navarro Millán, and the Cabildo Security and Emergency Councilor, José Roque Pérez.

The exercise Canasar / Morsa 2017 contemplates an accident resulting from the collision of two aircraft, one military and one civilian passenger. Once the collision of both aircraft is simulated, one will fall into the sea and another will make an emergency landing on the Island.

"Doing things well in terms of security is one of the demands that citizens make to public administrations," said Marcial Morales. "So we have to continue working to convey to the population that we have an adequate response in the event of an incident," he added. "It is also necessary to transmit a culture of security and prevention in an island that is a safe place," Morales said.

Mercedes Roldós said that "this exercise has an end: to be more efficient in a team work to save lives and for that we train". "It is the best guarantee for those who live here and for those who visit us," he said.

Nazaret Díaz Santos recalled that "the drills test the capabilities of emergency services." "This simulacrum will allow different action groups to know how to set specific goals and know the limits of action of each of the participants," he added.

Nicolás Gutiérrez said that this type of "exercises will give us the peace of mind that things are done well."

I can't see the location stated anywhere so  be prepared that anywhere on the island could see a sudden rush of emergency vehicles. Another article that I can't find now stated that 10 helicopters would be taking part as well as all the maritime rescue craft from the eastern islands.
