Anyone know where I can get a water tanker to fill swimming pool?

Is there a reason for not filling it from the tap with a hosepipe Chris as this is the norm?

When I had my pool (in Caleta) filled first time in 2004 I had no option but to use a tanker for some of the water needed - it took several trips as the pool holds 55 cu.m. of water. and the most you'll get in one load will be 25cu.m. and that will probably be an artic wagon. I've found a bill for that and the water delivered cost 360 euro for 36cu.m. so 10 euro/cu.m. a lot more more expensive than if I'd been able to fill it all from the tap - you have to pay for the transport as well. I was able to get the remainder from the tap - with permission from the community and that came to about 2 euro/cu.m. Big difference! More recently I've had to half re-fill the pool following some repairs and this time I was able to use the tap, the water again worked out a lot cheaper and we're looking at 10 years difference (and a connection to a mains supply) between the two occasions. The biggest issue with filling from the tap is that your water meter will most likely be set to deliver a maximum of about 1.5 cu.m./hr. so you're likely to have the hose running for about 24 hours at least.

Filling from the tap won't be "on" if your supply comes solely from a community "deposit" (tank) but won't be an issue if you're got a mains supply. The other thing to consider with tanker delivery is how near to the pool can you get the tanker and whether the route is downhill to the pool, water won't flow uphill and normally the tankers are delivering to in ground storage tanks so might not have on-board pumps. Also the hoses that the tanker came with wouldn't reach from the road to my pool so I had to do some fast jury rigging with some surplus large electrical ducting to complete the run - one benefit at the time of the area still being a building site!

Cost isn't the only consideration, the practicalities will probably dictate what you can do.

Thanks for everyone's input, the reason for the tanker was time saving.
