My car ITV is due in a few months time. A couple of questions:
Can I get it done early as I won't be on the island when it runs out?
Do you have to book, I will use the one at El Matorral.
How much Spanish do you need to know, am ok with general car terms but not fluent, was thinking I might take a good Spanish speaker with me.
Anyone had any experience at this ITV station or advice?

You CAN get it done early, but the renewal date will be the anniversary, or second anniversary depending on the vehicle age, of the new test date. Although I've not yet used it myself, friends tell me there are English-speaking staff in the new El Matorral centre. Even the 'Spanish only' staff at Antigua, though, were very helpful when I did mine there twenty months ago. I'd recommend you just do it yourself with reasonable confidence! You can book, but those I know of gave just turned up.

Snap, we know very little Spanish and always use the Antigua one, I have only once made an online appointment but still had to wait in the queue, they will help if you are stuck though, the only bit I got stuck on was at the end bay when he kept shouting from underneath, I didnt know what he meant so after he had shouted 3 times he came up and put his hand through the window and turned the wheel back and forth, but we both had a laugh over it, go on have a go its an experience.

Last year I did mine two months earlier than necessary due to timing of my next visit, and I was charged an extra small amount for that.  I was told if it had been just one month earlier than anniversary date there would not have been the extra charge!  Can't remember how much it was though, but didn't break the bank.

Just turn up the staff will help,you. If you are completely helpless they'll do it for you.

I used matoral to get mine done last month. English speaking staff in the office and very helpful. No appointment needed. I was the only person there. All done in less than 15 minutes. The staff drove the car through for me as well.
