Just one thing to note: It is illegal to take rocks and boulders from any beaches.

Don't tell me. There are boulder inspectors with their scales handy ( as size must be a criteria).... watching the beaches ready to slap a heavy fine on anyone removing one.

A figment of the imagination maybe , but no more so than those sneaky rental inspectors conjured up by the instigators of Fuerte's own project fear.  :D

The old rental scaremongers have gone a bit quiet of late. Whats happening?

Ivemovedon

not a lot by the looks of owners direct, holiday rentals and airbnb.

I'm not saying don't do it, just saying It's Illegal, just like leaving Pruned Palm Branches by the Basura, but idiots still do it, thus endangering the Habitat of the Island.

You cannot collect rocks, About two years ago some Germans decided that the rules didn't apply to them, so they went to board a flight back to Munich with half kilo of rocks. They didn't leave as they were stopped at the boarding gate, their bags opened and they were fined over 2000 euros EACH for removing rocks without a permit.

You should know by now that EVERYTHING needs a permit here.

See what you mean. But taking  a heavy bag of rocks on a flight home is a bit different from using a few of them in your front garden in Fuerte. If you were stopped by the traffico with a boot full of rocks how would they know where they came from anyway. Unless of course the local fuzz are university standard geologists. Like everything else over there most local laws are all speculation , might be's, could be's and perhaps's.

Hi
sorry for the confusion,
not interested in taking rocks , i want big boulders to buy.
not interested in rumours about rental police either.
maybe that was mentioned in another post
thanks

Half a kilo? We find at least that much sand and pebbles when we get home - in the cases, in pockets and tucked in the folds. Should we worry?

Try one of the quarries, they might sell you a few boulders and if you bung them a few quid they'll probably deliver. Try the workmen in the new motorway there's huge piles of boulders between Corralejo and Tam, same again, bung them and you might be lucky
Failing that, ask at the garden centres

I, for one idiot, didn't know that. Why is that? And where do you leave them?

You can buy boulders from the garden centers... not a huge selection but they do stock boulders & various types & sizes of shingle.

By far the best idea. However you get them, be prepared for moving them around. Upwards of 2 tonnes per cubic metre, which means that one only  50cm x 50cm x 50cm = 250kg !

A lorryload would take some determined effort to place.

No pun intended, but why not make your own decorative rocks/boulders?
Foam, (and/or chicken wire), paper mache, some artistic painting and a weatherproof top coat.
Fun to do, exactly the size, color and shape you want, economic and gratifying.
Look it up on the internet!

And talking about DIY, here are some pots with a difference I made in Fuerteventura:

Very lightweight and easy to move.
In the famous Fuerteventura winds, they might blow away, so it might be best to mould them around a rock, for stability.
