Where can you find vegetation on the island?

My husband and I stayed in Corralejo on our previous visit and we didn't really visit anywhere else.
I appreciate the island is very desertic (or certainly that part was!), but is there anywhere you can find a bit of vegetation (trees, etc)?
Basically, we're considering buying property here, but I would like a garden, and we both feel the lack of trees would get to us after a while.

I am always surprised at the amount of vegetation here considering the climate.  You can grow just about anything - and very quickly too.  You just have to look around -in public places there are a lot of trees and shrubs.  Just take a look at the vegetation around the airport for example, stacks of beautiful shrubs, trees and flowering plants. Most local species don't need much water but if you are a permanent resident and can care for your garden properly and regularly, then the sky is the only limit to what you can grow here.  If you are not a permanent resident, you can create a very nice"green" garden, by sticking to very local plants and shrubs which seem to survive without any particular care at all.  You will have the odd "failure" but then you also have that in the UK?

My Garden, after the rains.

Honestly, I despair at people like this, "we didn't really visit anywhere else", what  :o.
Why in the hell would you want to move to Fuerteventura if you want somewhere GREEN. You're on the WRONG ISLAND, go to La Palma.

The biggest patch of woodland I know of is at the Castillo Lara picnic area, just south of Betancuria.
I believe the trees were planted in the 1940s as an experiment to see if it was feasable to have commercial forestry, the location being the rainiest place on the island. Given their stunted growth after 70 years it's obvious what the result of the experiment was.

Try woes local in Caleta, lots of cabbages in there.

If you take the trail opposite the turn off for the Tres Island Hotel and walk due east across the dunes for approx two miles you will come to a ridge of low hills, follow the path at the foot of the hills until you come to a large boulder in the shape of a skull, look directly up from the boulder and you will see a small cave in the hillside, climb up to the cave and look into the entrance, you will see a light in the distance,go into the cave and follow the path to the light,it will fetch you out into the secret valley of "The Lost Souls",it is teaming with wildlife and flora of every description, dont forget to take a packed lunch and wear plenty of suncream, and ask the person who posted about beach facilities to join you on your trip.

That's quite interesting, I knew of the place but not about the story behind it.

We have found the palms are umbrella plants grow great with very little water for greenery and obviously cati. It is much easier than you probably think making a 'green garden'.  If you can get hold of by Hymalian mountain grass that is a great plant too.  We brought some from ikea once.

This is the greenest part of The Island I have seen, this Copse is around 1200 Sq m
and appears to have some sort of House/building? in the centre it is on the right on the  FV 413 just as you hit the 60K KPH zone,

Wow, that's an impressive copse, Johnrgby, a day's birding around that might produce some welcome surprises. There's a similar one just behind the beach road at El Cotillo just before the restaurant and it's a good place to see various finches and Hoopoe. It must be a well frequented night time roost.
