I arrived too late last Saturday to see their  1- 0  home win last week, damn

Tel - don't know how long you are out for but Cotillo are at home next weekend against Tenisca, so hopefully you can catch that match.

Union Puerto 1-1 UD San Fernando

Great game to watch even though it started a bit rushed both teams played some good stuff.
San Fernando with the wind in the first half dominated possession but failed to score. They are a very big side so will cause problems on corners and set plays  with two big centre screens.

San Fernando scored first on the break away ten mins into the second half and Puerto equalised with a great free kick. both teams had chances near the end to win it but I think Puerto made better use of their subs as they improved through the game.

Is cortillo the best team in fuerteventura? I stayed there once and know where the ground is but now basing ourselves in correlljo, I notice on this thread that they seem to play teams from all over the canaries?

At the moment yes, but the Union will rise again  :D

Both CD Cotillo (promoted in 2013) and UD Puerto del Rosario (promoted 2015) play in the Tercera Grupo 12 (Group 12 of the Spanish Third Division) and as Cotillo finished 7th last season whilst Puerto finished 16th, in theory Cotillo are the best team in Fuerteventura.
There are 18 Grupos which make up the Spanish Third Division. Groupo 12 is The Canary Island Group so yes, both Cotillo and Puerto will be playing teams from the other Canary Islands (as well as each other obviously).
Some details and last season's teams are on here:

Thanks for that, intending to move out semi permanently next year, so looking for past time to keep me out of trouble, will need to end my Cardiff city season ticket, which won't be easy regardless of how bad they currently are!!

I hear Las Palmas did well, 2-2 at home to Real Madrid! Believe LP are 5th in their league. (I know it's not Fuerte, but it's close  ;D)

Mark07

This weekend's results

Cotillo 5-0 Buzanada
Santa Ursula 3-0 Union Puerto

Cotillo now top
Unon Puerto 18th

Went to Cotillo game today. They made a slow start but improved and we're 2-0 up by halftime. Good header from a corner and then a defensive error for the second. After 10 mins of second half it was 4-0. A lovely chip and then a penalty. All finished off late on by another fine finish. Also looked solid defensively. Has the potential to be an interesting season I think.

Today's results

Cotillo 3-0 Marino
Tenerife B 2-0 Union Puerto

Cotillo top
Union Puerto 18th

Watched the Cotillo game. Another slow start but had gained 2-0 lead by halftime. 2nd half was a bit scrappy but Cotillo played some nice stuff at times & never looked in any real trouble. Late 3rd goal put the icing on the cake.

My brother's first visit to Fuerte and seeing CD Cotillo. This is his match report, as opposed to my weather report.

El Cotillo Vs Marino
Wednesday 12/10/2016

Both teams emerged from the dressing rooms into a hot and dry stadium for a 12.00 noon kick off. Marino sporting white socks, black shorts and black shirts. El Cotillo in light blue socks, white shorts and light blue shirts.

The teams lined up and there was a very moving 1 minute silence after which the teams shook hands ready to start the game.

12:00 â€" Kick off with the El Cotillo formation being 4:5:1 while the Marino formation was 4:4:2

The first 15 minutes, Marino were pressurising the El Cotillo goal, but without creating any real scoring opportunities.

12:12 â€" Marino shot from outside the box, which went low past the left hand side post.

12:17 â€" Marino take a corner from the left hand side, a miss-kick from El Cotillo defender provided a shooting opportunity for Marino from the edge of the 18 yard  box, but the shot was just over the bar.

12:19 â€" El Cotillo pushed up through the midfield with a cross field pass to the left, the ball was whipped in to the box from this side and a clumsy clearance gave a chance for the El Cotillo attack, but the shot to the left corner from inside the box was cleared off the line by the Marino defence.

This clearance gave Marino the chance to break away with 2 on 2 but a poor cross from the right wing resulted in the chance being lost.

12:21 â€" Marino broke through the centre with a low pas to the No.11 who picked up the ball on the edge of the El Cotillo box, he pushed forward as the El Cotillo goalie rushed out and saved the low shot with his legs.

12:24 â€" Some nice one touch football being played by Marino with a lovely one-two movement just outside the El Cotillo box, but they were just unable to find the final pass and the move broke down.

12:26 â€" El Cotillo won a free kick just outside the left hand side of the box. As the ball was driven into the box a Marino player hand balled and a penalty was awarded. The El Cotillo No.4 took the penalty, driving the ball neatly into the bottom left corner.

El Cotillo 1   Marino 0

This was against the run of play.

12:32 â€" Corner on the left for El Cotillo. This was floated over to the back of the goal where it was headed on to the bar. The rebound fell very nicely into the path of the El Cotillo No. 4 who headed home.

El Cotillo 2   Marino 0

12:42 â€" Pressure from Marino down the left hand side, with the ball being carried forward to the byline with the shot hitting the near post. Other Marino players were available in the box and a pass to them may have been more fruitful.

12:46 â€" El Cotillo No.11 span and turned on the edge of the box and shot just over the bar.

12:47 â€" El Cotillo No.11 ran into the right hand side of the box and shot across the face of the goal and just over the bar.

1st half summary:
Marino started off the liveliest and created a few near chances in the first 15 minutes, after which El Cotillo came more in to the game. The penalty was given against the run of play for El Cotillo and they scored the second shortly after this while Marino had not settled back into their game. The half ended with chances for both sides, but the finishes were poor.

13:04 â€" 2nd half kicks off

13:10 â€" El Cotillo No.12 received ball through the centre and ran into the middle of the Marino goal mouth,  the keeper came out and forced the error.

13:13 â€" El Cotillo No. 12 found himself clear in the centre, controlled the ball well and volleyed on his left forcing the goalie to dive low to his left and save with his feet.

13:15 â€" Corner on left hand side to Marino driven hard and low to the near post, headed away by El Cotillo resulting in a break-away chance, but the final ball was intercepted deep into the Marino half and the opportunity was lost.

13:24 â€" Marino No. 16 runs on to ball pulled back to him on right side of the edge of the box. Left foot shot goes just over the top right of the goal.

13:25 â€" El Cotillo No.12 given yellow card for tripping Marino player on right hand side of the El Cotillo box. Free kick driven low to left hand side of the goal and scrambled away.  Clearance pushes Marino back into their half and El Cotillo forward fouled. Marino No. 4 given yellow card for dissent.

13:26 â€" Marino player clashes with El Cotillo player resulting in Marino player being taken off on the stretcher. Marino substitution No.14

13:37 â€" El Cotillo No.4 set up a beautiful mid field pass across the pitch from the outside of his boot â€" the player picked up the ball and ran to the byline, but the pull back cross was too close the Marino goalie.

13:38 â€" El Cotillo substitution â€" No.10 off / No. 15 on

13:40 - El Cotillo substitution â€" No.11 off / No. 14 on

13:42 El Cotillo free kick on right hand side of box. Crossed into the near post and headed over by the No.12.

13:49 â€" El Cotillo attack on the right side and push ball to the near post, ball flicked on but straight to the feet of the Marino goalie.

13:50 â€" El Cotillo No.14 free in the box after wrestling the ball from Marino â€" one on one with the goalie and he sent him the wrong way placing the ball neatly into the right hand side of the goal.

El Cotillo 3 : Marino 0

2nd half summary:
Scrappy half. Few chances created by either side. El Cotillo stronger in mid field and finished chance well. Late 3rd goal secured the win.
