Having never been to a restaurant in Puerto - any recommendations

We visited el Cangrejo Colorao, which Emmi just mentioned, once with some majarero friends.
Like I wrote: once!
The Majareros love the place but our taste is different. Mind you, not bad at all, just not the place our taste buds want to revisit.
We find that too much of one very pronounced flavour kills the sense of taste. E.g. we love pata negra but with moderation.
Maybe a very good spot to get acquainted with some of the real local specialties.
(the service is also conform the majorero standards)

We never had a full meal there but we did have a very tastefull light lunch, so it can be promising.

Don't go to the Crab if you want good local food and great service. I recommend Tommy Nutters or The Pickled Palm in Caleta. At least you get good British grub, none of this foreign rubbish. It's so greasy!

PS The Crab is always so busy at lunch time too. GAWD know s why, there is no sausage and mash on the menu!

Thanks for the recommendation of El Perenquen, going this evening but don't know why Spike thinks I want 'good English food', wouldn't go near the places mentioned.

Hope you have an enjoyable evening John.  Let us know what El Perenquen is like... Now that we've moved we're also trying more restaurants in Puerto. Don't take notice of Spike... he's a Brit himself but gets confused (and he doesn't like successful British-owned businesses posting on here).

And now  .... there is a lovely little Trattoria just up from the post office, the kebab place opposite the harbour is a special treat, for the best churros, up from 3 bums on the left, best menu del dia, the hut on the Electron estate, but The Crab is best, classy what, what, what!

Unfortunately it was a public holiday in Rosario and most restaurants were closed. Never mind, nice Spanish bar crawl supporting local businesses.

'appy, you know I'm a bit of a wind up merchant, I do however recognise there are a small number of hard working people trying to make it work in such a difficult environment. Many come and go, whereas a few other stick at it through thick and thin. I can only wish you luck in your endeavours

Casa Tono is a fantastic restaurant if you want something a bit unusual, portions are huge and I can recommend it wholeheartedly. If you want good Italian then give Sandros near Las Rotundas a go. Good prices and nice food. El Mirador on the harbour is also good value, we had a Chateaubriand for 22.50 for the both of us and it came with homemade chips and beautiful Mediterranean veg. Las Paraguitas on the harbour is also good for tapas, the fish croquettes are fab.

Right then Spike there's The Bell, Fuerte Extra, Nestors, The Dog and Duck, Kings Arms, The Trafalgar, Woodside Trading, 15, Just 4 Sales, The Flower of Scotland, The Tavern, Luna Blue, Shirleys Sanctuary, Bits and Pieces, Miles Away, Tommy Nutters, and I could go on and on. Just a few successful British run businesses on Fuerteventura that have been going at least five years against all the odds.
