I have had some wonderful experiences queuing in the Corralejo, Bankia Bank, but last Wednesdays took the biscuit.  The reason for my visit was to pay my overdue "Council Tax", not my fault, but that's another story.

I started queuing at 08:50, they had one teller on, and four women sitting at desks mainly glowering at the Que, daring any poor unfortunate Gringo or Spaniard to approach them for advice. Two very smart male employees were mincing about in the background trying their hardest to look busy without much success, nobody was fooled.

On at least three occasions the teller went into long conversations with people I took to be friends or relatives i.e. lots of laughter and happiness, then real disaster struck just before my turn (by now it was 09:15) a very attractive young lady swanked through the bank and went straight behind the tellers desk to talk to her, kissing, hugs and another long conversation commenced with lots of laughter and joy. Being a veteran of many a long wait in Bankia, this was like water off a ducks back, "No problemo".

My turn came at 09:25, I presented my paperwork over the counter to the teller who proceeded to throw it straight back to me growling "You cannot pay today",
"But Why" I said, "Come back Tomorrow", "But Why I have always paid it here", "Read the Notice", she then pointed to a very small notice stuck on the screen in front of
her, apparently you can only pay official type of Bar Coded payment at Bankia between 08:15 and 10:00 on a Tuesday and Thursday. I said "Dear Me", or words to that affect. HAPPY DAYS.

Typical of most of my bank experiences ::)

Tamkid, couldn't you have paid using the new machine outside of Bankia, if the bill has a bar code on it I think you can, although I share your frustration of queueing inside the bank, done it myself a few times.

Tamkid

Your right Yorkie, you can pay at the Bankia ATM. On the day in question, one of the machines was out of order and the other had a que waiting. I didn't fancy showing myself up by trying and failing to operate it correctly, my problem.

After I left Bankia I decided to walk up the road and try and pay at the CasaCultural Bank (Some name like that anyway). I went in, there was no que, presented the form in front of the Teller, she promptly took it together with the cash, processed it within one minute, job done. Two extremes in customer service, she even smiled, which is very unusual in my experience, in hindsight she could have had wind.

I walked out of that bank, chuffed to bits with myself, and promptly stood in a pile of Dog S....., not nice with sandals  on and no socks I can tell you. I know it splays outwards but you still feel like its on your bare foot.

Socks in sandals ?
White socks I presume  :o

No socks Tommy, no socks. But I have no pride and would wear white socks no problem.

Tamkid, its the machine on the right should you wish to ever fancy trying to pay there again, you can select English first then its really easy to use with instructions on screen.  ;D

Will wait until a quiet period next time and give it a go, thanks.
