Is the naturist beach any good ? is there any playing in the bunkers ?( hoe not)

Karen-D

Doubt that you will see any "playing in the bunkers" but we have been approached by some " very friendly" people in the Naturist Area/Jacuzzi at the Jandia Princess, although this has been an exception and not the norm.

The last time we visited was about 15 months ago and the beach was absolutely awful. The beach was covered in rocks and pebbles washed up by the storms - you couldn't walk the beach easily, even with proper water shoes. The beach bar close to the sun beds used by the naturists had closed down as had the sun beds because of lack of trade due to the beach being completely trashed. It's possible that nature may have restored the beach to it's former glory (it used to be great) but you should research carefully before booking if the beach is important to you. There is another thread on here titled Esquinzo Beach that you may find helpful.

Never stayed at the JP but have had a few stays at the sister hotel next door which has a reasonable size naturist / spa area.

Never seen any Bunker Hopping going on in this area, the Germans are quite protective of their stone circles, which are grouped fairly closely together & tend to keep order on the beach.

We like the sunbed area under the Robinson which is slightly sheltered and has good sea access. However, as Karen pointed out WW3 hit it a while back. I did post some photos of the devastation some time ago, but I can't find them. When we left in February last year, the beach seemed to be recovering, but we could really do with an update.

EDIT. Just seen a post from Notdeadfread who reports that the beach is back to normal. However, from past experience I know that the exact conditions can change overnight. In our 17 years of visiting, I have only been disappointed once (Last Feb)

Hi folks, the beach was certainly fine when we were there in May last year. Here is a link to my Flickr pictures taken last May

I have not heard anything on what has happened to it this winter.

Thank everyone we have booked 29th till  12th February  ;D ;D 8)

Thanks Fred

Those photos have set me longing for another stay with Frau Susanna in Esquinzo! The last time I was there, the small sand ledge in front of the sun-loungers was around 10ft! It was as if someone had hoovered the beach up back to the bedrock.

Mr & Mrs Trucker. If you get fed up of the AI fare & want a romantic dinner out. There is a cracking little German owned restaurant in Esquinzo called Marabu. Booking is essential to avoid disappointment. Its about a €5 taxi ride from the JP. We took a moonlight walk back along the beach when we did it

And thanks to you Magoo for mentioning the Marabu restaurant. Didn't know about it so will try it next time we are out.

Magoo

No problem Fred, just don't go on a Sunday as they are shut!

Thanks magoo . I've told my wife about Mallabu . We will take a walk there if you could please tell us the way from the hotel .

"Friendly" like these two?  ;D

Marabu is well hidden & is a little awkward to get to on foot from the princess hotels. As you can see from the map, you either have to walk almost back to the FV2, & then back down into Esquinzo, or walk along the beach, tide permitting. If you  do walk along the beach, watch out for a footpath up the cliff which takes you up to the Marina Playa Hotel. Walk along side of it until you get onto the street, turn left & then right at the end. To be honest, its easier in a taxi! Remember about booking & you will have to zoom the map out to see the full route.
