This post is re-started due to being Hi-Jacked.

Apartments at Puerto Del Sol have now apparently come down to 15,400 euros.

Solbank.

They are down the road a bit from the Costa Caleta Hotel. No doubt they are so cheap because they have had so many problems with squatters and crime. I think many owners have simply abandoned them or they have been repossessed. Used to be a thriving tourist complex though, so there may still be a licence in place for letting. It's a shame as with a bit of hard work and investment, the complex could be turned around, but it would need an influx of new owners prepared to get stuck in. I guess this is reflected in the price.

I parked my car outside this complex earlier this week at about 9pm - lots of "dodgey" characters hanging about outside the locturno - and sitting around the steps at the entrance. Did not feel comfortable the way they looked at me and wondered if my car would be in one piece when we got back from the kebab shop - it was!

Are they at the back of The Caleta Gardens Hotel

Yep ..  They're working on getting the Squatters out. They are mostly Saharan lads, not Morrocan. I know some of them, they're harmless.

This complex is opposite the rear of Caleta Gdns. I had a look at it in Feb/March and was told some horror stories by a couple who unfortunately were staying there. It's true about some squatters being on site and apts being screwed on a regular basis, people being turfed out when bailiffs/bank officials were repossesing properties, besides the services being cut off due to non-payment.
What's the position regarding paying the community charge when the majority of owners might have upped and left? Does the full charge still have to be paid by who's left to pick up the pieces?

These apartments are being sold free of debts  (apart from water and electricity) according to the Estate Agents. Some are reserved already. They are all priced individually. The offer is only available until 15th November. Community fees are €70 per month and money has been spent on electrical work and plumbing on the complex.

I know two lots of people who own apartments there, and are here at the moment, staying in Hotels, as they refuse to stay there. Another friend who works at Captains, has moved out to another complex.

As the saying goes: You get what you pay for.
