We all love Fuerteventura but we all have friends that wonder why we do.

I came across this on youtube.com.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWKbM650cU8

Nothing to do with me, but it does show some nice places to visit.

Do you know of any youtube sites that are worth having a look at?

Someone from work went out a few years back to Jandia. I asked him what he thought and he said "the scenery was number two" I rest my case  ;D

I think it depends on what you like, my other half and I first came to Fue when we were 18 now 32 with 3 kids and we love it and come once or twice a year.

Its perfect for what we want, we always come in winter, its quiet the beaches are caribbean if you don't want the hustle and bustle then there are many places to go to avoid it. We always go to Corralejo but stay very close to our favourite spot which is the El Campanario.

We drive daily to the beaches and lagoons of El Cotillo (without forgetting stopping at the bakery in Lajares)

We always have a villa with pool, bbq etc ect. Its easy to drive.

Heaven on earth, and I hope one day we will own a property here.

The first time we visited Fuerte was in 1989 and we hated it. We stayed in Caleta when it was a small resort - nothing to do at night so everyone was in bed by 10 o'clock. A few years later we decided to give it another go, but, to try Corralejo. Since then we have been going back 2 or 3 times a year and always to Corralejo. We did give Caleta another try last year but still prefer  Corralejo.  :D

glenys, Matt28371 and peggy, we are like you, LOVE THE PLACE and go over three times a year for the last 9 years. It's our friends who can not get how we like the island so much. That is why I was asking if anyone has seen any youtube links. Just want to post the links to them, to show what they are missing. Perhaps I did not word it correctly.
Admin, I assume that is why you moved this post from Queries & Questions to General Chit Chat.
So if any one can answer my query & question, I would be obliged.

Thanks in advance.

Roll on November!!!!!! 8) 8) 8) :-* :-* :-*

Don't know about YouTube but what about sharing Tamara K's website with her beautiful pics and walk descriptions? I'm sure she wouldn't mind as she shared them with us. http://tamara-kulikova.blogspot.com.es/
Haven't heard from Tamara K for a while on here (unless I've missed it), a previous blog gave the impression that she may be moving on to somewhere else, anyone know? Are you out there Tamara K?

You won't go far wrong with pointing them to Basher's photo album on this site - some great pictures (54 at the last count): http://www.fuerteventura-forum.com/index.php?action=media

Spike has a Caleta website that has loads of interesting pictures, not just of Caleta, perhaps he could share the web address as I can't find it.

Spike On Q

Not me I'm afraid - it may be the main man hisself - Captain Sensible?

glenys

freewebs.com/caletafuerteventura is the site you need. Look at it most days just to remind me what I'm missing.  :'(

Mr Boo Boo

We first went to Fue ~ 5 years ago, stayed in Caleta every time, have since been back 12 times (next visit 04/01), the main reason we like it is down to the following :

Very relaxing atmosphere
Weather
Food
All the little villages off the beaten track
Small island (can drive from north to south in a couple of hours)

People ask are you not bored with going to the same place time after time, answer is no, have visited most of Europe/US/Asia etc, and feel at home in FUE, hopefully one day will be able to move over  :D :D :D

If you have not had a look at the youtube site I found, just have a look with a piece of paper by your side.

See how many times you say, " been there " like we have done, and yes Nosmo King it does keep the dream alive until the next visit.

Roll on November, 20th visit, 21st already booked and paid for in March 2014.

Captain Sensible's picture of the goat on the roof, what a classic.

Walking through B&Q two weeks ago and I spied a rotary line, now who was asking for one of those so time ago!!!!!

TamaraEnLaPlaya

My apologies - of course it was the Captain. I was thinking of Spike as I had just read one of his posts.

Rotary clothes lines - they had them in Ferreteria Marcial in Corralejo the other day. 2 different sizes. Right at the back downstairs.

The best of Fuerteventura is found when you get out of the resorts. Then you experience the real Island ....and it is so wonderful. :)

Totally agree Fi, nothing better than finding a little unspoilt village away from the touristy areas, sitting down in a little local cafĂ© with a decent coffee and cake and just watching all the locals go about their daily business... that said during our visit in April called off at a very local supermarket well off the beaten track (couldn't even tell you where it was), we were the only non locals in the shop and we seemed to be the centre of attention, loved it  :D

Spike On Q

It's a shame more UK people don't live in the heart of the Island and learn the history and the culture of this wonderful place - but not too many!

It is our BIG festival this week in Tuineje - I'll start a new thread and keep everyone updated

Look for The Battle of Tamisete!

Nosmo King, totally agree with your comments. We love to visit different places on the island. We have been visiting since 2001 and never get bored.  8)
