Corralejo Blues Festival 2013

Hi all - I'm trying to get info on the Blues Festival next month - all I can find are the dates (25 & 26th October)   and a copy of the publicity poster.  The la Oliva Ayuntiamento are the sponsors - but there is nothing on their website about it.

Anybody know who the Acts are? or any other info....

This was on the La Oliva website on 16th August under news items:

El aclamado músico Raimundo Amador será cabeza de cartel de la séptima edición del Festival de Blues, que se celebrará, los días 25 y 26 de octubre, en la Plaza Patricio Calero.

So that answers one question - no idea who else is on the bill!
We saw Raimundo Amador in La Oliva a few years ago at a free gig, a very entertaining evening.  Hope he repeats his rendition of Prince's Purple Rain, (Parple Ran in the local vernacular!)
It will be worth going to the Blues Festival just to see him,  shame it's only 2 days though.

Ten groups compose the main poster of the seventh annual blues festival Corralejo

Corralejo blues sound at 24 to 26 October during the celebration of the seventh edition of the festival that bears the name of the tourist area and, on this occasion , will be present not only on the main stage , located in the square Patricio Calero , but also includes concerts in the streets, on the beaches and in some local live music.

The presentation of the festival was held today at a press conference in the old port of Corralejo , by the mayor of La Oliva , Claudia Morales , the director general of Culture, Government of the Canary Islands , Xerach Gutierrez , the Minister of Culture the Cabildo of Fuerteventura , Juan Jimenez , and the Councillor for Culture , Soledad Aguiar .

Raimundo Amador and El Chino lead the lineup of an edition that will feature eight other groups in the square Patricio Calero and another six in the opening session to be held in the premises of music. In addition to holding concerts in different public and private spaces , other new features this year include organizing lectures by Amador and " Chinese " and the inclusion of two groups in the municipality of La Oliva composed of young adolescents: Jamickam and Lava Rock Kids.

The festival will start on Thursday , the 24th , with morning holding several concerts in different beaches of the municipality with which it aims to promote the event among tourists who are on the island during the weekend. From 20:00 pm , blues will move to the premises with the following actions: Rock Cafe Band in Rock Café , The Roosters , in Singer Café ; Blues Ventura , Cueva de Lobos ; Ahusic , at the Mall The Belfry , Crazy Goat in CornerRock and Carl Peter , in Retro .

On Friday , the 25th, will begin with a talk about the School of Blues at the Cultural Center of Corralejo , from 17:30 pm , and a lecture, at 18:15 pm in the Cultural Center of Corralejo , to be given by " Chinese " .

"Chino" is one of the protagonists of the Blues and Swing scene of Barcelona. A guitarist without equal, whose slide guitar style , covering both blues , swing and jazz manouche , is unmistakable. Together with his band, "The Big Bet " , formed by Rod Deville Nother Giggs on bass and the drums, and has left its mark in theaters and festivals throughout Spain and Europe. with its explosive live performances and charisma on stage is able to enchant the most demanding . Chinese living in Barcelona since 2001 and is today a benchmark of Blues and Swing in Spain . Besides " the Big Bet" is leading groups like "Shine " and " the Acoustic Blues Company " . Besides its activity in scenarios , is Director of Studies at the School of Barcelona Blues pioneering European project that takes more than four years of operation .

Teen groups " Jamickam " and "Lava Rock Kids" will open on Friday , from 21:00 pm , the two trying days of concerts on the square Patricio Calero. The sign of that day also includes performances of " Six Hands" , " Le Caravan" and "Chino & The Big Bet" .

Amador will give a " master class" scheduled for Saturday , the 25th, at the Gran Hotel Bahia Real, starting at eleven o'clock . True to its history and culture, Amador is one of the most important Spanish musicians , personal and charismatic . Rooted in a tradition and at the same time , open to other music that have a common heart , still sharing stages and recordings with artists from diverse genres.

Raimundo Amador learned flamenco with his father who still touches any of its flourishes . Flamenco lived in the street and in the same environment met the great rock and blues that have always fascinated him so much and who has tried to approach without sacrificing flamenco Dylan, Hendrix ...

The seventh annual blues festival is celebrated after the suspension in 2012 for lack of funds, thanks to the collaboration of more than 50 private companies , which provide nearly 60 percent of the budget , as well as the costs of accommodation and meals.

The expectations are very positive and it seems that many hotels and apartments recorded high occupancy that weekend by the pace of reserves blues lovers who will travel to Corralejo from other islands of the Peninsula and other countries , attracted by the music and good weather .
