Hi Can anyone tell me why we are getting a bill from Europa and Telefonica when we only signed up with Europa. We have just had a bill from Europa for 47.12 and a bill for 32.06 from Telefonica for July. Is this normal/
Many thanks for your assistance.

As far as I know, only telefonica can supply landlines. If you signed up with Europa they may well have arranged a connection for you with telefonica, but you will need to check with Europa regarding billing. The 47€ with Europa should include your line rental I would have thought.

Movistar line rental is €14.38 a month plus IVA or IGIC in the Canaries.
IVA on the mainland is 21% but IGIC is 7% in the Canaries.

Is there a breakdown of how much tax you are paying on each bill?

I have heard that if you order online, you end up paying the mainland tax.  :o

I see there is no mention of tax on the Europa site  ::)

Looking forward to the day I tick the "One way only" box when booking flights to Fuerte. [:)]

Hi,

We signed up with Europa in May, they had telephonica sort out the land line for us. We do pay line rental every 2 months to Telephonica (Movistar) and pay Europa on a separate bill for our internet, TV, catchup and any phone usage after we have used our free 120 mins.
Hope this helps....

Thank you, now we understand what has happened, but Europa did not tell us we would have to pay telephonica.

Thank you for your help, we signed up over the phone and have no breakdown of the bills whatsoever, I will phone Monday and see what tax I am paying.

Having the phone line installed was free. Europa arranged it all with Movistar. On our 1st bill for line rental we have paid 7% igic tax.
On our Europa bills it is also 7% tax.
If you log into the Europa web site you can view your monthly bills or print them off if you wish.
Hope this clarifies it for you.

This is a minefield I know some one who agreed a deal with Europa for line and internet they had the line installed then movistar  did not have adsl available out there where they live, so they are stuck with a phone line for 12 months and no adsl  all Europa said was they had the line installed on there behalf.

So am I right in thinking that the prices on Europa's site are PLUS IGIC?
